Today In New Orleans, President Bush Discussed The Lessons Our Nation Has Learned Since Katrina, The Work That Has Been Done, And The Many Challenges That Still Lie Ahead. One year ago today, Southeast Louisiana was struck by a cruel hurricane and flooding on a massive scale.
The President has returned to New Orleans to reiterate his commitment and to report what the Federal government is doing to make good on its promises.
However, the one-year anniversary is not the finish line, and many challenges still remain.

Jonny! ;OD (picture: bold text & blue coloring.) Haven't really studied to the point of "making it happen" yet, LOL! It's the thought that counts ;)

I'm not familiar w/this blessing thing. Is it in place of Communion? Can everyone come up and get it? Is it for ceremonial services (rather than the regular Sunday-type service)?

"Walking To New Orleans" ... That's the song that was played after the President's speech at the high school, while he was shaking hands with people along the rope line. It was most fitting. Thanks--I didn't know about that. That's great :)

Yeah same Co diff Country. I agree.

Yep. I laughed out loud when the Anchoress called her on it. It was refreshing and hilarious.
It did allow me to coin a new term: The Landrieu back paddle. Think it will catch on. : D.

I like the onion/mushroom one. :)

LOL! THAT would get Nagin! I hope Laura "accidentally" stomped on his foot, under the table, a time or two. But they always appear so gracious, even to those who have been so nasty to them. I admire them for that.

I finished the last 2 chapters of my dissertation last night!!!! I know there will be revisions (or what else is a committee for?), but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and it isn't an oncoming train.
What a burden has been lifted. All day long I've been yelling, "Freedom!!" a la William Wallace.
After a little freeping I will send it to my Chair and she can spend her holiday reading while I finally, finally get a break before the summer is over (of course it's 56 here in Seattle, so much for summer...).
