Reports from Seoul Korea, (daily newspaper Joongang Ilbo in Seoul) via the Japanese Jiji press agency, that South Korean intelligence has intercepted radio messages/communications in North Korea, which were aired last month, to civilians in the Kilju County, Northern Hamgyeong Province area of northeastern D.P.R.K., to evacuate.
The source in the South Korean government said "our interpretation is that following North Korea's underground nuclear blast test, they wish to head off any escape of radiation that would be a threat to the nearby civilian population and are evacuating as such."

a draft would wake the American people up. True, but I think we have more troops that we have even come close to using at this point.
Now, 1 year down the line after a global war breaks out with say China throwing it's lot in for Iran (not likely), I'd agree that it was time for a draft.
Of course if it ever comes to a global war again, we'll be cracking tactical nukes before we bring a draft back.

"Ok, that does it. I call TROLL, or someone who is seriously drunk and needs to log off and sober up." Was it the strange capitalization or the uncontrollable cursing that alerted you to this posters spork weasel status?
BTW... I concur and I doubt the drunk troll can read this fine print.

Didn't we make some noise a while back, about withdrawing from the test ban in order to make sure our old stuff was still making spec?
Heck, I thought they dumped that treaty. (or tried to)

Atmospheric nuclear testing would be of no benefit to the United States. All it would do is alienate most of our allies. True, all it might do is maybe put the fear of God back into a few people in power that the USA is not a bear you want to be baiting.

They have a landmark stone at the Gnome site. Edward Teller was there when the detonated the bomb. I do hope that he wasn't standing next to it though ;)

No, we withdrew from the Anti-Ballistic Missile (ABM) Treaty.
The Senate voted down the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty which would have prohibited all nuclear testing.
No one has suggested withdrawing from the Limited Test Ban Treaty.
