N. Korean Authorities Urge Civilians to Evacuate Near Site of Possible Nuke Test (Breaking)
Headline News Yahooo Japan (in Japanese) JIJI PRESS ^ | 19 August 2006 | JIJI Press, quoting Joongang Ilbo Daily

Posted on 08/18/2006 7:46:33 PM PDT by AmericanInTokyo

Reports from Seoul Korea, (daily newspaper Joongang Ilbo in Seoul) via the Japanese Jiji press agency, that South Korean intelligence has intercepted radio messages/communications in North Korea, which were aired last month, to civilians in the Kilju County, Northern Hamgyeong Province area of northeastern D.P.R.K., to evacuate.

The source in the South Korean government said "our interpretation is that following North Korea's underground nuclear blast test, they wish to head off any escape of radiation that would be a threat to the nearby civilian population and are evacuating as such."

he wont do jack sh*t....sad to say, but its true. Iran and Hesbo are laughing at him so why would North Korea be any different?

Our President has more inflatable orbs than you give him credit for.

if we need more troops than we have ?

Heck, we have AF flunkies pulling road guard duty with the US Army just to get over there on augmentee orders. Lots of the military hasn't gone yet. And lots want to. The problem is the fight for the augmentee orders. Not enough orders in country for those folks that want to go.

If the Penatgon sent every swinging richard that wanted to go to the sandbox, we'd have a traffic problem on the ground.

The Pentagon tries to spend taxpayer money wisely, and doesn't let everyone that wants to go, go. But we have plenty of volunteers to go around. Really. Really, really. Enough to fight a war on several fronts if we really had to flex our power. We're still in 1st gear.

the answer is no. what does china do with that oil? they produce manufactured goods. and who do they sell them to? the united states. war with the US, means no exports, no need to operate factories, no need for oil, and millions of peasants with no jobs.

for now, china is content to check US power using their various proxies. they need another 20-30 years for US companies to export the rest of our manufacturing and technology base to them, then they will be ready to take us down - when the only things we have left to fight them with are plastic bags from walmart, and coffee cups from starbucks.

If you explode a nuclear weapon deep underground it can contain the fallout.(shot:Rainier and most underground explosions) Though, sometimes the fallout "leaks" into the air even though you exploded it underground(shot:Gnome). This is an illustration of an "ideal nuclear explosion"

The largest underground nuclear explosion(for the USA) was shot Cannikin at 5 megatons in 1971

I think we need to re institute a draft.

That's a liberal idea - and an especially bad one. Why would you suggest it?

I can understand them asking civilians to move considering how there last rocket test went. However, I don't know if they can move far enough away.

It's possible to actually go out to the Gnome site. Kind of neat to walk where a nuclear bomb was detonated.
