Immigration officials have now picked up all but two of the eleven Egyptian exchange students who came to the U-S for a summer course in Montana but never showed up for classes.
U-S Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents tracked three of the students to Des Moines, Iowa, where they were arrested yesterday. Others were picked up earlier in New Jersey, Maryland, Chicago and Minnesota.

For record and not necessarily in defense of the 11 but...
I have known a couple of Saudis who came here to be educated. They came to small schools to be away from the heavy duty party atmosphere present in many, perhaps most large state universities. Scholarships were based on the most bang for the educational buck and potential reduction in temptation.
Two of them are now running businesses and really using their educations. They aren't the radicals we fear and are actually enemies of the bad guys because it is either the future or the stone age. These guys educated in the 80's are taking control and are definitely the future. They know what's what. You never hear of their success.
Exactly..
The word was out on these guys... and STILL he was bold enough to fuss.
My concern there is that the agent should have known IMMEDIATELY when seeing the ticket what the score was. Believe me - airlines have a way to flag those things... And agents are taught to be discreet and how to handle it. I've seen many records in my day flagged ... even before 9/11.
Actually that is nearly exactly correct for some of the first three they caught. They were already looking for work.
No more student visas for Muslims. None!
'what about the thousands of other young male muslims whose visas have long expired and are nowhere to be found'
Perhaps the INS should produce their own version of "America's Most Wanted' and begin plastering TV with photos of people whose visas have expired and have not reported to the authorities. Of course the ACLU will probably say their privacy is being violated.
It could simply be an exercise to prove that Homeland Security is on the ball to take our mind off all the other missing Muslims in the U.S.
That is exactly what I will always believe it was.
That is good for them. What makes these guys suspect is that they never showed up at their "small" school in Montana.
So what will happen to them?
Sent home? Allowed to stay? Given a good ass-kicking?
What will be the ramifications for egypt? Nothing?
It is neglegent, IMHO, to continue to allow individuals from terrorist supporting countries (arab or muslim countries) to enter our country, or stay if already here.
Send them all home, for good.
The FBI said it about 9/11 in the 30 minutes before the second tower was hit!
Well but say in this case they had a handle on these kids .. and wanted to follow them.. figure out what they were up to ..
Which hopefully is what was happening.
Frankly I don't care if they call it terrorism or not - I try to keep my eyes peeled for what I'd suspect. I just don't understand the mindset that everything has to be in the open - because the terrorists are going to do everything they can to keep it as quiet as possible. Even if they have an inkling that they are NOT being watched.. there's a greater possibility that they'll slip up.
What was the term during WWII - "Loose Lips Sink Ships" ?
I'll say it again: "We are NOT entitled to the "Secrets of War".....not now.
I have been wondering what this incident is/was about...a conclusion that I arrived at is this,it was a test run by the death cult...a probe to see how far they could go...an intelligence gathering exercise....
Coincidence?
(...snicker...)
I understand the charge, but I also understand Arabs are not as time and place consious as are Americans. "Eventually" is the same as "right now" This is the reason for the seeming lack of urgency by authorities. They are cutting a little slack.
However, the possibility of bad things is real. Times are different and slack must be taken up.
Young, male, muslims.
Split up upon immigration entry.
Spread out throughout the country.
Had the funds for A/L tickets, hotels, food, survival as "students" (who are usually on limited incomes) to move around the US to various places.
Did not present themselves by and large when words was all over the news (i.e. fugitives).
Some were found hiding in residences.
And, this was not related to terrorism? My what an abject insult to ALL our intelligence.
Right. Secrets of war are just for the NY and LA times. And occasionally the Washington Post.
Here a mosque there a mosque everywhere a mosque mosque...
Damn straight something was/is up.
"The two in Maryland were found at the apartment of the owner of a pizza place where terror-related arrests had taken place before."
Wow. I hadn't heard that.
Does that refer to the several guys who were allegedly planning to blow up the Harbor Tunnel about a year ago?
