Can a good Muslim be a good American?
A friend who knows | 8/11/2006 | Agent Smith

Posted on 08/11/2006 6:36:37 AM PDT by Agent Smith

I ask my fellow freepers indulgence for this vanity, because I believe it is too important to be buried in the back of the forum.

Can a good Muslim be a good American? I sent that question to a friend who worked in Saudi Arabia for 20 years.

The following is his reply:

Theologically - no. Because his allegiance is to Allah, the moon god of Arabia.

Religiously - no. Because no other religion is accepted by his Allah except Islam (Quran, 2:256)

Scripturally - no. Because his allegiance is to the five pillars of Islam and the Quran (Koran).

Geographically - no. Because his allegiance is to Mecca, to which he turns in prayer five times a day.

Socially - no. Because his allegiance to Islam forbids him to make friends with Christians or Jews.

Politically - no. Because he must submit to the mullah (spiritual leaders), who teach annihilation of Israel and Destruction of America, the great Satan.

Domestically - no. Because he is instructed to marry four women and beat and scourge his wife when she disobeys him (Quran 4:34).

Intellectually - no. Because he cannot accept the American Constitution since it is based on Biblical principles and he believes the Bible to be corrupt.

Philosophically - no. Because Islam, Muhammad, and the Quran do not allow freedom of religion and expression. Democracy and Islam cannot co-exist. Every Muslim government is either dictatorial or autocratic.

Spiritually - no. Because when we declare "one nation under God," the Christian's God is loving and kind, while Allah is NEVER referred to as heavenly father, nor is he ever called love in The Quran's 99 excellent names.

Therefore after much study and deliberation...perhaps we should be very suspicious of ALL MUSLIMS in this country. They obviously cannot be both "good" Muslims and good Americans. Call it what you wish...it's still the truth. The more who understand this, the better it will be for our country and our future. The war is bigger than most Americans know or understand.

Turkey is the exception to the rule of Muslims generally hating the Jews.

Turkey has a secular government. The US has a secular government. Israel has a secular government.

Secular government is most amenable to tolerance and defusing religious tensions.

-perhaps you are referring to the conditions of migrant workers in Israel. Not actually slavery, but considered by some to be "near slavery conditions"

In war, there are no linked-arm civil rights marches. Show me a soldier who isn't bigoted against his enemy, in the extreme, and I will show you a dead soldier. Wake up.

But we aren't at war with American citizens who are Muslims, excepting those who are traitors to America, just as any country must be at war with those who commit treason against it.

It wasn't. His name is not even in it. Read it to the end sometime:

You obviously lead a paranoid and sad life if you think every Muslim wants to kill you. At some point you have to make a distinction between Muslims who want to kill you and Americans who are Muslims. I doubt Muhammad Ali is going to hijack a plane anytime soon.

Just what is it about the Constitution that you find so difficult to regard as inspired, especially considering the number of diverse people involved in its formation, and the singular way they ultimately agreed on each of it's parts, not to mention the growth of the nation in relative peace up to this point. Listening to your comments, causes me to believe that you might find anything difficult to understand or believe in the light of inspiration.

We are very much at war with the precepts of Islam--jihad and dhimmitude. All Muslims either have to deny those tenants of their faith or embrace "traitor" status.

You obviously lead a paranoid and sad life if you think every Muslim wants to kill you.

You must take great comfort, then, in believing that Muslims don't really believe in their faith?

You're engaging in broken thinking. Not every Christian does the charity work of a Mother Theresa, but you might take some comfort in the notion that billions of people share her faith. Not every Muslim is a Mohammed Atta, but knowing that millions of Americans share his faith, isn't exactly comforting. Do I think "every Muslim" wants to kill me? No. Do I believe their faith is dangerous, and has an extraordinary historical precedent of tyranny, rape, and poverty? Yes. Talking Muslims out of their evil faith would be one of the greatest accomplishments of anyone here on Free Republic.

That's not true (and, incidentally, I don't believe this e-mail was started by someone who worked in Saudi Arabia). Jihad isn't a pillar of Islam and neither is dhimmitude. The latter is contradicted by the "no compulsion within religion" sura and Jihad is supposed to mean a righteous struggle, which the terrorist wars against Israel, the United States, London, etc. are not, and devout Muslims, according to experst like Bernard Lewis, are capable of seeing as unjust.

Yes, I do agree with you that any kind of religious fundamentalism is dangerous, and radical Islam is no exception. What I believe is that most people need religion and the people are born into Muslim families, so that is where they go. They are also born into America or at least have enough drive to pack up and move here. Americanization is a powerful and integrating force. I have many Muslim friends and do not think of them as potential terrorists, but just Americans who have a different religion.

Muslims in America may observe the law, enjoy the benefits of American order and prosperity quietly, but if they really are Muslims, they cannot deny their holy writ.

Yeah, well I have yet know anyone who perfectly follows all of the rules. Sometimes life requires that we walk among a potential enemy with courage, and I don't mean just Muslims, it could be anybody.

No. We are at war with radical, political Islam. The vast majority of the world's Muslims have no interest in Sharia law, jihad, or imposing their views on other people. They just want to worship in the way they want to worship.

Radical Islamists are using Islam to further their political ideas.

If you know any Muslims, you know that they treat the violent parts of the Koran the way Christians treat the precept against usury or dietary laws. They ignore them.

I suppose the victims of 9-11 are supposed to take some comfort in Benard's "expertise?"

The vast majority of the world's Muslims live in countries where Christian and Jewish worship is not allowed. I had a good friend of mine, a former West Point officer, watch as Muslim thugs shove a Saudi woman down in Riyadh. She was completely veiled but her ankles were showing. They spray-painted her flesh as a mark of shame.

Muslims in America are civilized because our law enforcement agencies don't care what their Mullas preach. They are civilized, here, because of us--not because of them.

What is this "we" shiite you're throwing around Hassan?

A little Taqiyya at work, eh?

If I could, I'd ban your pathetic butt.

PS I mean that in the nicest possible way.

This thread has brought out the absolutle worst in Free Republic. Talking about internment, extermination and exile for *American citizens*... this place has no shame. Especially the "Christians" among us. We've given DU ammunition for months today. Good job, folks.

And , if there was any sense here, Mariabush would be banned.

Of course not; that's a non sequitor worthy of the Jersey Girls. What do you propose be done with Americans who are also Muslims, given your premises?
