A major terrorist plot to blow up planes in mid-flight has been disrupted by police, Scotland Yard says.
It is thought the plan was to detonate explosive devices smuggled on board aircraft in hand luggage.
During the night, police arrested a number of people in London after a counter-terrorist operation they said had lasted several months.
Police believe the attacks would have been particularly targeted at flights from the UK to the US.
The Department for Transport said security at all UK airports has been increased.
Passengers on all flights will not be allowed to take any hand luggage on to any flights in the UK.
Only the barest essentials - including passports and wallets - will be allowed to be carried on board in transparent plastic bags.

That's magic money that comes from a bottomless nowhere. And there's no opportunity cost either.
I have a good six months worth of stuff now including about 50 gallons of potable water, 40 gallons of gas and a bunch of propane. Some antibiotics and pain killers.
Only takes a couple bux a week to stock up.
It's freaky, I'm not normally a diehard gloom and doomer, but it seems as though one hell of alot of bad stars are in the skies these days...

Then I guess those people just won't be able to fly. I'll admit I don't get the obsession with flying; I haven't been on a plane in 23 years and have only flown 3 times, all domestic.
Don't get me wrong here, in my opinion, the best solution is to exterminate Islam from the earth, all of it. If the Muslims who supposedly aren't radical don't get off their asses and start denouncing these radicals and fighting back with the rest of the good people of the world, then they can go too. I was enraged to the point of trembling and heart palpitations on 9/11 and I'm close to that point again tonight. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that I've had/heard/seen enough of this crap from these wackos.
The solution to these problems is very simple, if logistically gargantuan.
And if there were such profiling, what terrorist would call himself that?
