A major terrorist plot to blow up planes in mid-flight has been disrupted by police, Scotland Yard says.

It is thought the plan was to detonate explosive devices smuggled on board aircraft in hand luggage.

During the night, police arrested a number of people in London after a counter-terrorist operation they said had lasted several months.

Police believe the attacks would have been particularly targeted at flights from the UK to the US.

The Department for Transport said security at all UK airports has been increased.

Passengers on all flights will not be allowed to take any hand luggage on to any flights in the UK.

Only the barest essentials - including passports and wallets - will be allowed to be carried on board in transparent plastic bags.

Then that service company needs to get its service techs out into regional areas with service territories that are sized so the techs can drive to the customer's locations.

Any parts can be shipped overnight and information can be transmitted electronically. On the occasion that the techs need to go back to the home office for training, etc, then fly. A lot of the airline miles could be cut out if people put their minds to it.

Who was it that had the two dreams right before 9/11 about planes crashing into buildings?

I don't want to make anyone nervous but just as a warning, last time I came back through Heathrow, I was pulled aside for a more thorough search as my purse wouldn't clear security. I had a large toe nail clipper tucked into a fold in the lining that I'd missed. The security officer took it out and opened it up, snapped the blunt nail file part in half [he was trying to snap it all off I guess] but it left a very sharp edge like a sharp knife about an inch long. He then closed it up and put it back in my purse and let me carry on with boarding the plane for the flight to LAX. He in actual fact MADE me a weapon.

If anyone HAS to fly in the immediate future please be very observant about the passengers on your flight. You don't know what they may have in their possession.
