When Tim LaHaye talks, the faithful listen—by the millions. The conservative Protestant minister is the coauthor of the wildly popular apocalyptic “Left Behind” novels. The controversial books, which have sold more than 60 million copies, depict the biblical end of the world: the Christian eschatology of the upheaval that precedes the second coming of Jesus Christ, known also as “end times.” LaHaye recently spoke with NEWSWEEK’s Brian Braiker about why he believes the events currently unfolding in the Middle East reflect biblical prophesy.

however nowhere in the bible does it even suggest that GOD would cast away the nation of israel. he has given them a promise through abraham, issac and jacob(renamed israel) that HE would give them the land that abraham walked on and that they would be the head of all nations, that has not happened at all in the history of the world.

I think it's exceedingly likely he is in the world as an adult now. The many reports of his doings are quite believable, to me. I think Kathleen Keating's website has some stuff on him.

I personally believe that God used Y2K to get a lot of people alerted to and prepared for the END TIMES. He has a history of warning repeatedly which man has a history of ignoring repeatedly.

The destruction of Jerusalem was worse than the Flood??? How about WWI or WWII and Viet Nam, Korean War...Six million Jews at the Holocaust...How about the destruction of Carthage under Scipio??? What about the destruction of Kiev under Ghengis Khan??? The Crusades???...Atom Bombs in Japan???

Many scholars believe that the prophesy addressed both issues separately. That is to say that one part of the prophesy addressed the end times and the other addressed the destruction of the temple. Note that Christ told them that not one single stone would be unturned, and the Roman general that destroyed the Temple did indeed destroy not only the building, but destroyed the entire foundation and had it plowed up so that no stone literally remained unturned.

I don't speak Greek, so it's hard for me to have a concrete opinion on it either way other than this: operate under the assumption that at any moment Christ could make His appearance.

I hate to break it you people, but the majority of the adult males in 1948 when Israel was formed are either dead or well on their way. Only the very youngest would still be alive, and they would be in their upper 70s by now. If we take Christ's prophesy to mean that the generation alive when Israel became a nation again would live to see the Day of the Lord, then the Bible is dangerously close to being forsworn. Now, we all know that God does not lie. The logical conclusion of all this is that, perhaps, the fig leaf spoken of in the prophesy does not, in fact, represent Israel.

Depends on which poster. I think many of the catholic freepers here don't do this. OTOH, if it's sinkspur you're talking about, that's different. If you even breathe next to him, he'll figure out some way to construe it as anti catholic.

I read somewhere this last several months . . . a doc which insisted that the puppet masters have enough cash reserved to give every global citizen I forget how many 10's of thousands of USD as well as wiping out their mortgage debts etc.

If that preposterous assertion turns out valid, one can bet that a SLAG--an implanted ID would be the catch.

If I had to bet, I'd still bet that it means less number of hours per day instead of less number of days. Still seems to me that the latter would have meant he'd not have taken such great pains to spell out specificially a precise number of days as He did 2-3 different ways.

2. Less days in the period concerned.
