When Tim LaHaye talks, the faithful listenby the millions. The conservative Protestant minister is the coauthor of the wildly popular apocalyptic Left Behind novels. The controversial books, which have sold more than 60 million copies, depict the biblical end of the world: the Christian eschatology of the upheaval that precedes the second coming of Jesus Christ, known also as end times. LaHaye recently spoke with NEWSWEEKs Brian Braiker about why he believes the events currently unfolding in the Middle East reflect biblical prophesy.

But no one seems to know these verses:
1Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
1Th 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
1Th 4:18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
1Th 5:1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. 1Th 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
1Th 5:4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

Very excellent point. Have long thought that interesting.
The capacity of naysayers as well as rebels to seize on a phrase or a verse to justify their ignoring lists of other Scriptures has long been a sad but fascinating fact of human nature, it seems.
Sure could've purchased an awful lot of rice, beans, and water for the poor and homeless with that money...but whatever works for you, Tim.

Am reminded of some religious leaders whining to Jesus about a woman washing his feet in expensive perfume.
Christianity seems to never lack for learned fault finders.
Think a little more carefully. Although porn is one type of fantasy, it doesn't follow that every type of fantasy is porn.

Great point.
It seems that trashing the truths in Scripture is a passionate favorite recreation of some.
Mrs. L,TOWM and I both discuss our world weariness often. We try to be careful to do what works we see that needs to be done -- He obviously want us to be doing something, our we would be taken away.
Even so, Come Lord Jesus...

Love your perspective--a very familiar one, to me.
PTL.
Cite the sources please.
If it weren't part of the holy scripture of a major religion, anybody who attempted to read it would dismiss it as the result of ingesting bad shrooms.

I fail to understand the logical cause of such . . . an . . . anemic perspective.
Sure, Revelation is cryptic in many places. Clearly symbolism abounds.
But I have always failed to see any BIBLICAL rule that prevents the symbolism in Revelation also being literal prophecies as well. I wouldn't expect all of them to be so. But neither would I expect all the symbolic stuff to be 100% only and totally symbolic in all cases either.
God has often been cryptic. Christ was often cryptic. Christ spoke of hiding things from those unworthy to know such truths.
It's no big surprise that Revelation would hide truths from evil globalist end times idiots.
Revelation has often been annoying in its mysteriousness. But it's still God's Word and a treasure. And I'd think MOST unbiased bright folks could detect in it's wording a majesty, power and intellect well beyond some idiotic drug use by a rebellious teen.
Sheesh.
is a scam artist.

Sounds like a haughty judgment, to me.
That doesn't change the established fact that Cyrus Scofield was a scam artist.
I don't mind true believers making lots of money--as long as they do it honorably and use the income honorably and hopefully mostly for The Kingdom.
I'm satisfied all such points are true for both men.
LOL.
Jump all over you like a rabid Tasmanian devil--biting, flaying and generally shredding one's personhood, intellectual capacities, sanity and Christianity?
You must be joking!

The

as one very public source.
One of their 10 or 11 new 'commandments' mentions reducing the world's population to 500,000,000.
That figure comes up fairly often in the globalist's documents of the last decade or two.
Seems to me that the major criteria on these threads for such allegations is
98.9% personal bias.
Not really.
There are people with whom I have strong theological disagreements - like RC Sproul or Avery Dulles - but I don't think that they are hucksters or scam artists.
Honest people can have honest disagreements. But Cyrus Scofield was not an honest person.
Like a Rock Star<----It must be Bono.
And in this instance, there are plenty of folks who suggest and even go so far as to teach that this verse means "be a good Christian and you will always be prepared when Jesus comes like a thief in the night, because no one really knows the day or the hour"...
1Th 5:4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
But that's not what the verse means...How do I know that...Because that's not what the verse says
It says, "I am not in darkness, therefore, I WILL know the times and seasons...And what's that mean??? You won't find it in the 'original' Greek...
'Seasons' is pretty self explanatory...It means seasons...Times on the other hand will require some Bible study (II Tim 2:15) but it's in there...
I have no need to bash Roman bro's and Sis's
nor
to agree with all their doctrines.
I think LaHaye took a similar tack.

But it just so happens that said "whackjobs" have a death grip of control on the world's energy; militaries; most of the food production; pollitics; technologies; non polluting technologies; WMD's of every known type and many not known; economic systems and exchange systems; . . .
and . . . as Biblically predicted, they are rushing the world toward a tyrannical global government.
Check out this site where at least some of their number have gone to great lengths to erect these stones in secrecy:
GEORGIA GUIDE STONES website here
Here are their goals and values put somewhat cryptically and in sanitized form on the stones:
1. Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.
2. Guide reproduction wisely - improving fitness and diversity.
3. Unite humanity with a living new language.
4. Rule passion - faith - tradition - and all things with tempered reason.
5. Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts.
6. Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court.
7. Avoid petty laws and useless officials.
8. Balance personal rights with social duties.
9. Prize truth - beauty - love - seeking harmony with the infinite.
10.Be not a cancer on the earth - Leave room for nature - Leave room for nature.
I understand that perspective.
I merely disagree with it.
I disagree with Schofield a lot. But I don't know his biography well. For all I know, he could have been an earnest Christian Brother with his unique set of biases like the rest of us.
I agree with you rather wholesale.
