Syria Tells Troops to Be Ready for Battle
(Full Story)

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has placed his military on full alert, citing "regional challenges", and vowed to continue supporting the "Palestinian and Lebanese resistance more than ever".

In a speech to mark the Syrian Army national day, Mr Assad said the volatile situation across the Middle East required "vigilance, preparation and readiness" and ordered all units of the armed forces to be on alert.

The comments were interpreted by Israel as a morale booster to the Syrian armed forces and not a call to battle. Israeli intelligence chiefs have assessed that Syria is not in the mood for an open war and is instead content to resupply Hezbollah guerillas in Lebanon.

Or perhaps we have given him a lawyer at the expense of the taxpayer, ala Lynn Stewart. That's an annoying thought, but not impossible.

Well the thing that concerns me about this aritlce is that he may have access to a computer like this guy did:

I was just reading the Imam Samudra article and thinking the same thing. Think of all the things smuggled into prisons on a regular basis. Someone with his contacts and connections could probably get something smuggled in or message smuggled out.

Also, I haven't read anywhere that it was officially confirmed that he was in a U.S. controlled prison. He could still be in a Pakistani prison.

"Indonesia: Alleged Terror Hackers Arrested"
Jakarta Post, 24 August (AKI/Jakarta Post):

Police have arrested two men for allegedly using cybertechnology to support terror attacks in Indonesia. Cyber Crime Unit chief Sr. Comr. Petrus Reinhard Golose said Wednesday that the two men were Mohammad Agung Prabowo, 23, and Agung Setyadi, 31. They were detained separately earlier this month in Semarang, Central Java. Police arrested 23-year old Prabowo, known as Max Fiderman in hacker circles, on 12 August.
He allegedly helped register a website, www.anshar.net, with UK-based hosting site www.openhosting.co.uk and German site www.joker.com late last year, said Golose.

Golose added that the www.anshar.net website had been designed between June and August of last year by Abdul Azis, who is currently on trial in Bali. He's accused of creating the site for Noordin M. Top, the alleged mastermind of several bombings in Indonesia, including the Bali I and II bombings.

The website was used to deliver information related to their operations.

PRESS RELEWASE SNIPPET: "NEW YORK - Javed Iqbal, a.k.a. "John Iqbal," 42, of Staten Island, N.Y., has been arrested and charged with conspiring to violate the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), U.S. Attorney Michael J. Garcia of the Southern District of New York and Assistant Director in Charge Mark Mershon of the New York Office of the FBI announced today. Specifically, the complaint alleges that through a company called HDTV Ltd. located in Brooklyn, Iqbal and others provided customers in the New York area with satellite broadcasts of al Manar, which is a television station owned and/or operated by Hizballah.

The Department of Treasury named al Manar as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist entity in March 2006, thereby making it a crime to, among other things, engage in business transactions with al Manar. In conjunction with the arrest, agents executed search warrants at both HDTV's Brooklyn office and Iqbal's Staten Island residence where, it is alleged, Iqbal maintained several satellite dishes."

More trouble for Irhabi007's friends
Four charged [in Denmark] with plotting terror attack in Europe:

A Danish prosecutor today charged four young Muslims with plotting a terror attack in Europe.
The four suspects were arrested in October last year in connection with an investigation in Bosnia.

Prosecutor Henning Fode said they helped two other suspects in Bosnia get hold of weapons and explosives as part of a plot to blow up an unidentified European target.

On August 4, 2006, the Al-Hesbah website published instructions on "How to Kill a Crusader in the Arabian Peninsula." The document was signed by Amer Al-Najdi, and dated June 15, 2006.
Al-Najdi instructs his readers in some possible ways to kill a Westerner, from choosing the victim through following him through the stage of the actual killing."

The most glaring words I picked up from the article were that the missile was "rusted." Secondly, it was noted that a call was made to Fairchild AFB.

Galloway congratulates Hizbollah

MP George Galloway has congratulated Hizbollah on its "victory" in Israel.

At a news conference in a Beirut hotel, the controversial politician said: "I came here to extend my congratulations to the Lebanese people on a great and historic victory against this aggression.

"I want to congratulate the Lebanese resistance and their leading edge, Hizbollah, whose martyrs and her s have achieved this great victory.

"And in particular to their leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, whose name now rings in joy around the world."

Galloway is in Beirut to present a phone-in radio show for a British radio station.

He also condemned Prime Minister Tony Blair's response to Israel's war with Hizbollah.

"Tony Blair did everything he could to extend, to prolong, to intensify the suffering of the people of Lebanon. The blood of these thousands is on his hands," he said.

Galloway is known for his outspoken comments and was kicked out of the Labour party for his outspoken opposition to the Iraq war.

Court Decides Suspected Terrorist Should Remain In Custody

Prague, 19 August: Oussama Kassir, a Swede of Lebanese origin who is suspected of terrorism and wanted by the USA, will remain in Czech custody as the Prague City Court has turned down his proposal that he be released, the daily Pravo writes today.

"The objections Kassir made in his proposal have not been found substantiated. At the same time, the court has found reasons to keep him in custody," the court deputy chairman Bohuslav Horky told the paper.

One month ago, Kassir complained about his imprisonment with the Constitutional Court. "This complaint has not been handled yet," the court spokesman Michal Spacil said.

Kassir was arrested by the Czech police on the basis of an international arrest warrant at Prague's Ruzyne airport during a stop-over of his plane flying from Stockholm to Beirut last December.

US authorities have charged Kassir with conspiracy aimed at providing material support to terrorists for which he faces up to a life sentence in the USA if found guilty.

The Prague City Court has already started to discuss Kassir's possible extradition to the USA. It has not made any decision yet, as it wants to ask Sweden and the USA for further evidence.

Kassir allegedly participated in building a training camp for Jihad in Oregon, USA from where the trained Muslims were to move to Afghanistan.

The camp, however, seems to have been only planned but never built.

Kassir has denied all the allegation, claiming that they were fabricated and extorted under pressure and torture. He said that he was afraid of his extradition to the USA.

On the internet Oussama Kassir used the names 'Abu Khadija' and 'Zubeidah1417', operated something he called "The Islamic Media Center (IMC)", and was the purveyor of some of the very finest of jihadist training materials.
