Supposedly, Hezbollah members in the Lebanese cabinet have said that the organization will refuse to disarm south of the Litani River.
Looking for print confirmation.
Because of the seriousness of the war against terror, we are doing what we can, when we can, and are planning a boycott against CBS and its advertisers if it gives airtime to the terrorist dictator of Iran on Sunday with Mike Wallace.
We believe it is wrong for the following reasons: He still threatens to kill all Americans and Jews; he violates his own citizen's human rights; he refuses UN resolutions to stop his nuke program; he are in a war on terror, and do not need to add fuel to the fire, having undiscerning minds influenced by him.
Please contact CBS nationally and locally. The advertisers should be notified, and allowed to pull out.

The fall out from his mishandling of this will put him and his party out of power. Bibi staying quiet, but once things have settled down Olmert will be pushed out., IMHO.
00:46 4 more IDF soldiers killed in Lebanon on Saturday, bringing death toll to 11 (Haaretz)
I read this three times and then read it to my husband.
Shaking our heads...
Yep, this is odd.
Updates appreciated today.
If the lids are not bulging, I'm sure it is still quite safe. But, the quality of taste might have diminished a bit.
If in doubt, call Campbell's.

I agree.

"Norwegian passports missing"
Great, now we really DO have to worry about Lutheran terrorists.
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - Pakistan is hunting for a senior figure from an al-Qaida-linked militant group, after a suspect arrested here over the alleged plot to blow up jetliners flying from Britain to the US named the wanted militant during interrogation, intelligence officials said Saturday.
Matiur Rahman _ a leader of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, a Pakistani Islamic militant group _ is already wanted in connection with two assassination attempts on President Gen. Pervez Musharraf in December 2003, attacks on minority Shiite Muslims and on Western targets in the southern city of Karachi.

Pakistan back on Bin Laden trail
/12/2006 11:19:54 PM
Islamabad, Aug. 12: Pakistan is set to start a massive hunt for Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden along the Afghanistan border after the abortion of the latest terror plot. "We are never sure he is there (along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, but we always have a chance," a senior official told this paper on Saturday.
The official added: "President General Pervez Musharraf has directed reinforcement of the anti-terrorism campaign. Osama bin Laden is on the top of the wanted list. If he is there, he will be arrested." A few days back Pakistan agencies arrested British Al Qaeda operative Rashid Rauf who is said to be the key man behind the plot to blow up the trans-Atlantic airliners.

Is it dehydrated or in cans? Dehydrated will last a lot longer of course. But canned will go for a long time too as long as it has been kept in a cool dark place. Of course if you detect any bulges in the can get rid of it immediately. Also, any cans that have been dented should be discarded as well. Otherwise you should be good to go for awhile. How long I'm not 'ZACTLY sure. Six months. Maybe a year....maybe more....but not much more....
Just a reminder of the dates for Ramadan 2006/1427: September 24th thru October 23rd.
I just now remembered that the threat to Europe back then SPECIFICALLY made mention of Italy and so I tended to brush aside the thing in the UK as being unrelated....now that has to be reassessed.

Iran: 'Kandahar' Actor Ready For Jihad In Case Of U.S. Attacks
Tehran, 11 August (AKI) - Dawud Salahuddin, who has become renowned worldwide as an actor in the movie 'Kandahar' made by Iranian filmmaker Mohsen Makhmalbaf on life in Afghanistan under the Taliban regime, is ready to become a suicide bomber should the US carry out a military attack against the Islamic Republic. Salahuddin, who played a doctor in the film released immediately after the 9/11 attacks, has been wanted in the US since 1981 on charges of killing Iranian dissident Ali Akbar Tabatabaii in Bethesda, Maryland, on 21 July, 1980, when he was 29.
Salahuddin said this week he is "ready to participate in suicide attacks should (US president George W.) Bush order an attack against the Islamic Republic." "Fighting Americans is every Muslim's duty," he also said.
Dawud Salahuddin, an African-American who converted to Islam when he was 18, was born David Theodore Belfield. He reached Tehran on 31 July, 1980. Except for short periods in other Muslim countries and in North Korea, he has been in Iran ever since, and now lives in a luxurious apartment in the capital. He speaks Farsi and works as an interpreter at the Iranian intelligence ministry in Tehran.
Ever since Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was elected president last summer, the man, who had previously denied having killed the dissident, admitted he had murdered Tabatabaii, saying he was "absolutely not sorry to have killed a former aide to the Shah."

I hate to be flippant about it, but if the terrorists show up here, we Norwegian Lutherans could issue a death by casserole fatwa.
Overall Summary and Comments
Once again, the fog of war and the weekend slowdown of many open sources has me guessing. One thing is certain, IDF is moving hell bent for leather. Since it is unlikely that the situation will be much clearer over the rest of the weekend, the map has been updated to show in green the suspected axis of attack across Lebanon.
Olmert has really painted himself into a corner. With his decision to accept the UN cease fire resolution AFTER telling the IDF to go for it may have angered the military enough for them to tell him in effect shut up and sit down. Although politicians reporting the ground offensive will end Monday morning Israel time, the IDF chief of staff said they would probably go for another week.
Both Hezbollah and Israel have put forth clauses to the UN resolution that is not covered by it and are totally unacceptable to the other, as well as impossible to implement. Dont expect it to hold.
Most likely, a driving factor in IDF planning is to position itself so that when they are told to stop, they can resume operations after the cease fire is violated. Here the IDF is looking out for itself, since Olmert isnt.
Ground Operations
According to IDF sources, the forces in Lebanon have tripled since the start of the latest stage of the ground offensive. Israeli Air Force dispatched large forces in airlift deep into south Lebanese territory on Friday night, in the largest carried out by the army in recent years. Information indicates one location is the key village of Ghandouriyeh, located on the south side of the Litani River near a key river crossing site.
It appears that there are three main thrusts to the attacks. The main assault is westward along the southern side of the Litani River. The second main axis of attack appears to be swinging northwestward along a genera axis of advance from the vicinity of Hadara (northwest of Bint Jubyal) towards Tyre. This takes advantage of being mostly parallel to the grain of the terrain and exisiting road network. Supporting this main assault is another attack to the north and northwest across the southwestern most corner of Lebanon. Open sources are less clear about his advance, but it is a logical one given the IDF forces in the area. Forces there could also move westward across the plateau on the northern side of the Litani to the ocean if the need arises.
A third attack appears to be directed at securing crossing sites of the Litani River in the Qlaiaa area, where the Litani River bends northward southwest of Majaayoun. I am getting some hints that there may be a force pushing northwestward toward Nabatiyeh to secure sites that can keep rocket launching sites there under surveillance and fire.
It seems that the goal of the IDF is to complete its encirclement of southern Lebanon to deny Hezbollah resupply and reinforcement. It is clear from IDF pronouncements that they will be clearing the area out bit by bit to finally rout out any remaining cells. The push towards the ocean will trap those Hezbollah elements trying to flee at the sea, as the naval blockade prevents any evacuations. What is going to provide the most difficulties to the IDF are the remaining hard core Hezbollah who have gone to ground (basically hiding in their bunkers) only to spring up in rear areas. As some news releases have indicated, these bunkers are as much as 125 feet below ground and well equipped. Having cells pop up has been very common over the past couple of weeks.
Air Operations
The IAF continues to pound targets in Lebanon.
Rocket Attacks
There seemed to be some delay in todays rocket launchings, key indicator that IDF operations have disrupted things. Rockets finally started firing late morning, mostly scattered and ineffective. Some estimates are that the rate of fire was about half of the previous days rates of fire. Reports have indicated that Hezbollah likes to make use of the ravines and wadis in the area to mask their firing operations. As IDF continues to exert control over the area, there will be fewer and fewer sites available to shoot from, forcing Hezbollah to rely more upon its longer range rockets of which there are fewer and more susceptible to interdiction.
