I'm putting together my bug-out bag and have a quick question. I have lots of soup that expired Feb 2006. Do you think that this stuff is still good, and if so, how long? I don't want to throw it away unless it is unfit to eat.
Thanks!
I would think it would be good for up to a year past the expiration. If an emergency arises and you need to go to your rations, you can always open it and pretty much tell if it's good. I bet appalachian_dweller would know. He's usually up on the survival info. Haven't seen him around lately.
Ya, your right. He would know (appala...). I think he headed for the hills...
I am detecting indicators that the IDF has bluntly told Olmert not to screw around with the operation until they have met their objectives. This has come in the form of coup rumors, Olmert saying they'll have 48 hours and IDF sources saying that the offensive will go until the objectives have been met. The Red Light...Green Light war that Olmert has managed has earned him the anger of the IDF and the people. The opinions against the war probably reflect the piecemeal efforts and hamstrung IDF. I would be suprized if the IDF stops after the 48 hour period. I'll expect them to finish sealing off the area, then conducting "defensive" search and destroy operations in its area.
I just opened a can of Celery Soup yesterday that expired in 2002 and I am still kicking....and I am an old geezer and can't handle spices anymore and other culinary delights/
Bye-Bye is right!
Am I ever glad or what!
how-a-bout Claim chowder?
What in the world is going on!?!?! This is just nuts. Thanks for posting MamaD.
Thanks for finding that article Cindy. I have no idea why the spree of pipebombs. Dallas is a pretty sleepy, small, community. Or at least it was the last time I was there which was about 10 years ago.
TODAY'S RECAP AND UPDATES:

UNresolved
From Neville Olmert: "Peace in our time"
Will the kidnapped soldiers be released? No.
Will Hizballah be disarmed? No.
Will southern Lebanon be under the control of an effective fighting force? No.
Will the border between Syria and Lebanon be effectively monitored to prevent the rearmament of Hizballah? No.
I could go on, but what's the point. The spectacle of Israel's political elite trying to spin this into a "victory" is dizzying.
Actually it's nauseating.
Finally, the reader may add this to the list of Bush administration foreign policy accomplishments, right up there with their stellar handling of North Korea and Iran.
It's a good thing we have faith, because G-d knows we have no other cause for optimism.

Thanks for posting the interview NW; always good to hear what Bergen and Emerson have to say.
Is it canned or the dry soup in the packets? If its canned, and the cans are not dented, I would keep it. Don't forget to put a manual can opener in your bug out bag.

"Al-Qaida agent held over plot
Fiona Hudson, in London"
August 13, 2006 12:00am
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "THE foiled plot to blow up passenger flights between Britain and the US was linked yesterday to al-Qaida.
This came with the arrest in Pakistan of Rashid Rauf, 26, a member of the terrorist organisation, over allegations he organised to commit mass murder with liquid chemical bombs hidden in hand luggage on jets.
Pakistani officials revealed British-born Rauf had been seized near the Afghanistan border on Wednesday.
He was arrested outside an internet cafe after Pakistani intelligence agents noticed he was sending and making an unusually high number of emails and phone calls to Britain.
Rauf was understood to have lived in Pakistan since leaving Britain after the 2002 murder of his uncle, Mohammed Saeed, 54.
The stabbing murder was never solved and Rauf was wanted for questioning.
A Pakistani security official said Rauf had been put under surveillance after Britain's Secret Service had told Islamabad he was in Pakistan.
Pakistan described Rauf as a "key person" in the aborted plot.
"He is a British citizen of Pakistani origin. He is an al-Qaida operative with linkages in Afghanistan," Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao said.
Mr Sherpao said Rauf's arrest had led to Thursday's raids in Britain that headed off the plot."

I can't believe this is happening! Olmert has got to go; is he kin to Jimmy Carter? This will have all been in vain if the IDF is forced to go home and it will (IMO) embolden hezbollah as well as other terrorists. Godzilla, I sure hope the rumors you are hearing are true. Arggggggg.
Now this is NOT nice...

Real IRA admits city bomb attacks
BBC ^ | Friday, 11 August 2006
Posted on 08/11/2006 10:58:01 AM PDT by Jack2006
The dissident republican Real IRA has claimed responsibility for the firebomb attacks on stores in Newry this week. Firebombs destroyed JJB Sports and CarpetRight stores in the town whilst a TK Maxx store and MFI outlet were among those badly damaged on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the cross-border railway line between Newry and Dundalk has been closed while police carry out a search. It follows the Real IRA's warning in its statement that there may be unexploded devices on the line.
The firebomb attacks earlier this week are estimated to have caused damage worth hundreds of thousands of pounds. Newry's SDLP mayor Michael Carr said: "The Real IRA should examine their motives. "Their cause is not a blow for Ireland, but a blow against their own communities."
Mr Carr added that the businesses which had been targeted would be given every support, including an effort to have them temporarily re-located.
:)
In Lebanon,...and in IRAQ...soon maybe in Afghanistan!!!!!
