Someone uses history to refute your point and you come back by insinuating he's a fascist.

I clearly and distinctly requested a position on the Israel/Lebanon conflict, after stating my opinion. I did not bring up the name of Franco, nor laud his "success" at civil war. I am thrilled that a dissenting opinion has been relegated to drivel in your opinion. Pardon me for not falling in line with the emotional lock-step of "popular" FR opinion. It is inconvenient and requires a degree of effort to question popular opinion when one of our sworn enemies (Hizb) is being attacked. Yet is important to do so, out of United States interest. Our interests may not coincide with any or all of the involved parties, despite common enemies. This is the debate that I am attempting to stimulate.

I have not condemned nor held specifically accountable the individual government of Israel or Lebanon. Hizb is responsible for initiating the current events. Israel and Lebanon share culpability in the escalation. There are some unknowns. It is not known if Lebanon sanctioned the activities of Hizb. It is apparent that this is a war between Israel and Lebanon. Yet Jameison chooses to deflect and skirt a direct answer.

Oh, and guess what. Israel just gave a 48 hour cease fire. Chew on that.

"That will come as a surprise to General Franco, and all those who have won hundreds of civil wars all over the world against enemies who did not fit ' clear definition of the enemy state'."

This is not a civil war. A civil war requires a country. No such country as "Palestine" has ever existed in all of history. "Palestine" is a Roman insult to the Jews they failed to annihilate; a take on "Philistine". No such country as "Palestine"has ever existed. There have been no coins, no official language, no system of government, none of the things which a country requires to be a country, in all of history. Even when Yasser wrote the Pali constitution, which vows nothing but the destruction of Israel, which historical HAS BEEN A SIGNIFICANT country in the past two thousand years of human history, the creation of a state called "Palestine" with Jerusalem as it's capital - after the Jews are "driven into the sea" goes so far as to pretend such a notion was anything other than a sick fiction written by Hitler' Arab allies. Hezbollah fights for this fiction - at least according to them they do - while also fighting (allegedly) for Israel to withdraw to her pre-1967 (Arab war of conquest and destruction, remember that?) borders.

The notion of "Palestinian refugees" and the equally fictitious notion of Israel as an Imperialist power for taking ground in an Arab war of conquest and daring to hold it is what gives credence to Hezbollah, the PLO, the PLA, etc.

All of the so-called "Arab world" has a political stake in wanting the destruction of Israel: to give their oppressed masses a Great Great Satan to hate, besides the Great Satan (the US) in order to get their minds off unimportant things like where their next meal is coming from and stuff like that. They can just blame the two scapegoats of Israel and the US.

Nobody has thought far enough to figure out whom will be to blame after Israel and the US are destroyed and their lands cowering under the banner of the Khalifah.

Just a note to make sure the record is historically accurate.

"I clearly and distinctly requested a position on the Israel/Lebanon conflict, after stating my opinion."

Hah!
This is what you said:

"Absent a clear definition of the enemy state, it is impossible to wage and decisively win a war"

I brought in the Spanish Civil War to prove that you are wrong.
It's that simple.

Anyone who jumps all over Israel in this conflict is pro-terrorist.

"This is not a civil war"

Groan.
Again this poster made the VERY BROAD statement below:

"Absent a clear definition of the enemy state, it is impossible to wage and decisively win a war"

There was no mention of what kind of war it was, civil or otherwise.
That statement was about wars period.
And I have proved that statement is wrong.
What more ya got?

Hah! Here is the question from #325: Please provide a critique of the President's policy regarding the Israel/Lebanon issue. Does his unwavering support of the Lebanese government, of which Hizb is an elected participant, cause any issues? Does his support of the Palestinian Authority, of which Hamas is an elected participant, likewise give one any reason for concern? If this support for two governing entities that harbor, aid, and abet terrorists sworn to the destruction of the USA and Israel will benefit us long term; please outline the benefit(s) and time-frame for reaping said benefits.

How come Israel gave a 48 hour cease fire? If one is clearly winning a conflict, and the PR/media campaign, why grant a ceasefire for the enemy to re-arm?

Ummm..what's all that got to do with my post # 83 that you are replying to to again?

I'll just repeat that post here for you, ok?

Israel Agrees to 48-Hour Halt in Aerial Attacks

00:35 Jul 31, '06 / 6 Av 5766

(IsraelNN.com) In a dramatic turn around of events, Israel agreed around midnight Monday to suspend aerial attacks in southern Lebanon for 48 hours while it investigates the cause of the deaths of about 50 civilians in the Lebanese village of Kana Sunday morning. The announcement of the halt in aerial activity was made by an American State Department spokesman and not by the Israeli government.

Virtually all of the world's nations except for the United States and close allies bitterly condemned Israel for the bombing attack, but the IDF has said it is not clear what caused the explosion that level a three-story building, buying victims, including more than 21 children.

The IDF said it bombed the structure around midnight Sunday and attacked another Hizbullah terrorist facility around 7:30 a.m., but that the report of the explosion that resulted in the killing of the civilians was received only around 8 a.m.

And so exactly how is the Israel/Lebanon conflict related to a civil war? Two sovereign nations do not a civil war make. Unless one believes that Lebanon is (or was) part of Israel; it is not a civil war. And the USA supports Lebanon, the Palestinian Authority, and Israel. Is this schizophrenic policy?

I am therefore not sure what you're saying. Franco himself could be considered an enemy of the state which he bloodily conquered with the help of other fascists. Yes, Franco was a Fascist, allied with the equally wonderful and confused Mussolini and Mussolini's fave buddy, Hitler.

According to accepted estimates, the number of civilian non-combatant executions - those absent a clear definition of 'enemy of the state' - is between 100,000 and 200,000.

Yet Franco allegedly 'won' the Spanish civil war with the blood of those 'absent a clear definition of the enemy state'.

So your point refutes Franco's' own and a number of established historians. What was your point?

I posted my comment before reading the whole thread, which, had I read further, would have enlightened me on the larger scope of your thoughts.

I think you should let your first born live.

Just my opinion.

The old Hezbollah/Hamas playbook is starting to look outdated.

I know that if I'm living in a building that's being used by a group like Hezbollah to launch rockets at a neighboring nation with what is widely ackowledged to be a superior military organization, first there's no way I couldn't know what's happening around me, and second, no way would I stay anywhere near the place.

IMO, the Lebanese are asking for what's happening by sticking around as though it's just life as usual, whether they can do anything about Hezbollah or not. Don't want to die? Get away from there.

Hezbollah is nothing but a bunch of chicken-shiites anyway, hiding behind women and children. If that's bravery, Rumpelstilskin is an astronaut.

I can't say that it is. It's from this link on another thread, but it is not certain where in Lebanon it is or when:

Agreed that Hezbollah is nothing but a bunch of chicken shiites hiding behind a bunch of woem and children, but IMO most of the Lebonese hanging around niavely believing it's business as usual while rockets rain down around them is nothing but the usual terrorist-loving, mass-media propaganda.
