Gingrich says it's World War III
Seattle Times ^ | July 15, 2006 | David Postman

Posted on 07/15/2006 8:32:36 PM PDT by West Coast Conservative

Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich says America is in World War III and President Bush should say so. In an interview in Bellevue this morning Gingrich said Bush should call a joint session of Congress the first week of September and talk about global military conflicts in much starker terms than have been heard from the president.

"We need to have the militancy that says 'We're not going to lose a city,' " Gingrich said. He talks about the need to recognize World War III as important for military strategy and political strategy.

Gingrich said he is "very worried" about Republican's facing fall elections and says the party must have the "nerve" to nationalize the elections and make the 2006 campaigns about a liberal Democratic agenda rather than about President Bush's record.

Gingrich says that as of now Republicans "are sailing into the wind" in congressional campaigns. He said that's in part because of the Iraq war, adding, "Iraq is hard and painful and we do not explain it very well."

But some of it is due to Republicans' congressional agenda. He said House and Senate Republicans "forgot the core principle" of the party and embraced Congressional pork. "Some of the guys," he said, have come down with a case of "incumbentitis."

Gingrich said in the coming days he plans to speak out publicly, and to the Administration, about the need to recognize that America is in World War III.

He lists wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, this week's bomb attacks in India, North Korean nuclear threats, terrorist arrests and investigations in Florida, Canada and Britain, and violence in Israel and Lebanon as evidence of World War III. He said Bush needs to deliver a speech to Congress and "connect all the dots" for Americans.

BTW, Gingrich may have a point, but it's a good thing he's not in a party leadership position. We aren't at WWIII yet, even if it may be obvious to a handful of us thoughtful, visionary, Churchill-worshiping types that the Middle east/far east/US is irrevocably heading that way. Politically speaking, what Gingrich is saying is quite stupid and won't help Republicans in the least. Yes, it's serious. But no, Bush does not need to go campaigning for another preemptive war and he does need to take on the Democrats over more domestic issues.

The islamo-facist arab asians are not rational human beings, thus incapable of negotiating a peace settlement that would be accepable to civilized individuals.

The longer we delay the inevitable the more westerners will die at the hands of the barbarians.

This conflict will end in fire.

If we start a draft, then we get the people who do not want to be there.

The fact is that we have plenty of troops over there now. It's just that they have one hand tied behind thier backs and pull punches.

How come the terrorists can cut off heads, but if we accidentally kill a 10 year old kid who happens to live in a war zone, our military automatically should be thrown in jail?

No, the time is at hand where we need to kick ass and start taking names. The 3rd ID should move straight into Teheran, with support from the British, French AND Russians.

Quarter the entire middle east up into areas which are controlled by the various great powers and quite simply get ready to have to occupy the place until the population is peaceful.

Outlandish, you bet.

But if you think that "peace negotiations" or the like are going to work, then you must have been watching American Idol for the past thirty years instead of the news.

Look at what "negotiating" got us? Nowhere fast. Yassir Arafat died with like 12 BILLION in the bank. Little kids were indoctrinated with guns.

You don't need to be a rocket scientist to see where this is headed.

Only a starry eyed 18 year old liberal with John Lennon posters in his bedroom could think that this isn't going to blow up pretty bad.

We just need to make sure that our side wins.

"Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich says America is in World War III and President Bush should say so."

Keep dreaming Newt. GWB and KarLaRazaRove would then be compelled to secure our borders...and we all know snow will fly in hell before that happens.

It may be WW3, but it is not yet Armageddon. That will occur if this pic turns out to be true in a few years..

"Take heart my disciples! We may have lost 20 US cities to terror attacks, but there are still plenty of other cities left for us to destroy! Bwa ha ha ha ha ha!"

"You don't want your population any more fearful than necessary."

What, are we all cowards, incapable of facing the truth?

Liberal girly men may react with enuresis, but I have to think that most American men will rise to the challenge.

So what? Men have duties.

I just hate the way Viet Nam era leftist propaganda has become the received wisdom.

She had surgery to get rid of her cancer which was successful. She is still alive today.

I have had breast cancer surgery. If my husband walked in with divorce papers while I was lying in that bed hurt....

Let's fast-forward to his adultery with the second wife.

You just don't get it. Women will not vote for this man...not now...not ever.

The reason he and Clinton got along so well is that they are brothers under the skin!!

Julie Bandaras put Susan Estrich in her place, she said "I can't imagine the world today with President Bush. These Dems are on the sauce. The Blame Bush game is staring, Howard Dean said if the Dems were in charge we would not have this LOL LOL. The Dems are using the same old words, we are losing in Iraq. They hate are military so much they insult them and make them look incompetent. Then they want to lead them. What a joke.

What about Allen and Giuliani, who also divorced their wives? Will feminists vote for them?

Not talking feminists here, familyop...real women with real families.

Don't know about Allen's story...but Giuliani was married to an uber-faminist b$tch who hated her husband's career and went on to star in "The Vagina Monologues." I think that absolves him. He is now married to the woman who stood by his side for years.

Newt is a loser with women.

It's truly sad, because he is a good political mind, but he brought his own problems on himself.

Well I agree on the level that we have responsibilities.

But I had heard the thought banied about that one reason we don't have people marching in the streets is because 99.99999% of the guys in Iraq WANT to be there. For every Cindy Sheathead there are 1000 upstanding American soldiers with families that understand what is going on, and what is at stake.

If we put the "disadvantaged" and the street kid who barely can pick his nose let alone find a job in uniform, there will be many more malcontents, all of which have similar family members at home who believe in the power of the social security and disability checks much more so than in the power of their own hard work.

We don't need 125000 more men.

We need unfettered access to middle eastern airspace for about 90 days, and an increase in bomb production.

Take out Damascus and the Syrian military
Take out Teheran and the Iranian military
Take out the Bekaa Valley and everyone who lives there.

Screw them before they finally start blowing themselves up here, which probably isn't that far off.

Remember this.

We are one election away from having the American version of Neville Chamberlain.

And some would say we already have in the person of the greatest sack of crap that occupied the Oval Office in my lifetime.
Jimmah Cahtah.

I think you missed the phrase "more fearful THAN NECESSARY".

The right amount of fear is essential to prod people to move forward. More THAN NECESSARY will weaken a war effort.

Pres. Bush is doing it just right IMO. Reminding the people again and again of the need for the war, and projecting an image of bravery, not undue fear.

The question is whether we can ever sell the idea of the seperation of Church and State to that area of the world.

If the consensus is no, then our plans have to reflect that reality.

Agreed, blam. Talking to some of these folks in here is like beating your head against a stone wall.

And, it is probably not worth the time, in the first place. Some of then are totally oblivious to the lessons of history -- and could never in a million years address the global reality in the context that it warrants.

Don't waste your time, mate. *S*
