Most Americans Plan to Vote for Democrats (including 24% of "conservatives" (AP-Ipsos Poll)
Breitbart ^ | July 14, 2006 | DONNA CASSATA

Republicans are in jeopardy of losing their grip on Congress in November. With less than four months to the midterm elections, the latest Associated Press-Ipsos poll found that Americans by an almost 3-to-1 margin hold the GOP-controlled Congress in low regard and profess a desire to see Democrats wrest control after a dozen years of Republican rule.

Further complicating the GOP outlook to turn things around is a solid percentage of liberals, moderates and even conservatives who say they'll vote Democratic.

The election ultimately will be decided in 435 House districts and 33 Senate contests.

But a Democratic takeover of either the House or Senate would be disastrous for the president, leaving both his agenda for the last two years in office and the chairmanship of investigative committees in the hands of the opposition party. To seize control of Congress, the Democrats must displace 15 Republicans from House seats and six Republicans from the Senate.

The AP-Ipsos survey asked 789 registered voters if the election for the House were held today, would they vote for the Democratic or Republican candidate in their district. Democrats were favored 51 percent to 40 percent.

Not surprisingly, 81 percent of self-described liberals said they would vote for the Democrat. Among moderates, though, 56 percent backed a Democrat in their district and almost a quarter of conservatives _ 24 percent _ said they will vote Democratic.

almost a quarter of conservatives _ 24 percent _ said they will vote Democrat...

There is no effing way a real conservative will vote Democrat. None.

Now I can see how a liberal might vote Republican, but not the other way around.

The AP-Id10T pollsters were obviously being screwed with.

I can't believe there is a single Conservative or Republican left in this country who believes or trusts polls.

There are some here who actually think Giuliani is the Second Coming...

This is a friday poll dump so the sunday talking heads can wring their hands and say republicans are doooooomed.

This is a story point for the Stephanopolis show. This is so all those OLD people who are house bound and still watch the dinosaur media will be "goebled".

The media is creating "some people say" polls.

Republicans are in jeopardy of losing their grip on Congress in November.

The way districts across the country are gerrymandered, it's unlikely that the swing in the House will be more than five seats. Max.

exactly!

789 registered voters don't get to decide the election

plus how many of them are just liberals lying that they are conservative? as if it adds credibility, not to mention which democrat and which republican would they be voting on? a generic poll means nothing, even a poll about the canidate means nothing. it is merely an attempt by the lamestream media to shape the opinion of the public, unfortunately for them they no longer have a media monopoly and propaganda is just too hard for them to accomplish when other people get to speak!

If "almost a 1/4 of Conservatives polled, would vote for a damned Dem, that means that out of 789 people, ONLY 100 WERE CONSERVATIVES

I'm lost. : )

Well... I always have had a soft spot for the underdog. I guess the Republicans will have to get my vote again eh?

The republican politicos are like Superman, Strong, Fast, and Tough. The problem is that, as my Grandmother used to say, they get too big for their britches.

Then the britches rip and show what little cajones they have.

I think nopardons is assuming that half of the 800 polled were conservatives. This is nowhere to be found in the article.

It's simple math. If 24% is almost a 1/4 of the Conservative count, as is said in the article, then the number of Conservatives polled is about 100.
