Building explosion at 32 East 62nd Street. Four story building collapses and is burning. Several people reported trapped in the rubble.
Location is across the street from Revlon world headquarters.
Most likely named Mohammed.
Why blow up a building to commit suicide? Weird.
Giving new meaning to the phrase....suicide bombing...
I know...a completely tasteless joke.
I believe that Revlon is on Madison between 58th and 59th.

Kinda like a kid blowing himself up outside a crowded football stadium and calling it a simple suicide.
Upper East Side. Chic neighborhood. I'm not surprised the building was valued over 5 million. I used to know a few people in that area, but most of my friends are now further north.
Just turned the television on and saw this. Do we know if the Doctor is a Muslim or Arab?

It was a gas explosion.
Hmmm. Leaving for lunch with freepers and will check in later for more information on this guy.
You have freepmail.
Why would a physician choose gas when he has so many other medical devices at hand to commit suicide?
Behind our family home in PA (back in the 70's), a row of homes were destroyed when one exploded in a gas explosion one night. Our parents grabbed us and ran out the front door, and I remember what looked like fireworks flying over our house. Everyone made it out alive that night except two men - the one who came home and switched on his basement light, and the other who thought one of his kids was still inside and ran back in for the child.
I don't understand that either; but I guess that just proves we're not C R A Z Y, huh?
Go to the blackboard and write 1000 times,
When I can smell gas I will not ring electric bells or even touch light switches, lest an arc cause an explosion.

That's why NYPD & FDNY and gas workers knock loudly when they're clearing a building. Oh and they shout for the hearing impaired. You should have done the same.
Thanks -- just repeated what the news reporter said.
WNBC has gone back to normal programs, in this case Martha Stewart. Ugh.
Oh, I dunno, maybe a few seconds?
It might be a nice gesture if they'd wait until the fire was out before announcing the results of the investigation, though.
I could live comfortably with a statement that there are no early indications that it was terrorism, but I'm quite uncomfortable with a blanket statement that terrorism has been completely ruled out, if said statement is made while the debris is still falling.
You may chose to genuinely believe any knee jerk statement any randomly selected Government Agent makes without any backing data whatsoever.
I may chose to think you're a bit naïve.
One of us might even be right...
