....Every Day

FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I could no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I had been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.

Still that didn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why we've created a place for just that. This is a friendly room in JimRob's house where FReeper FRiends can gather every day and just say hello if that's all they want to do.

There's more of course. We sometimes feature different FReepers, with a little background information on who they are and what makes them who they are, along with a few photos you might not have seen on other threads; sometimes others write an essay for us to post as the feature for the day; sometimes our presentation is a human interest story found elsewhere that you might not have read; sometimes special holiday threads; but whatever the topic of the day, it is always with FR's Finest in mind and that is YOU!

If you would like to be featured, or would like to see someone else featured, please send me a private FR mail.

Every Monday we will post the photos of FR's Military Personnel that I have collected and put into groups; these will be available to view through a link the remainder of the week - every day just a click away. :)   If you would like to add a photo of yourself or a loved one in the military, past or present, please let me know; I will hold it until I have enough for a new group.

Ah....a bit o the Irish is it? Well, did I introduce ye tu Maggie O'Brian, me alter ego? I'm thinkin o changin her name to Maggie Malone. Twod be a fittin memorial for me dear Sistah. One of these days I'll tell the tale of Maggie O'Brian Uhel's life on the frontier. Ye should see the open mouths and big eyes on the childrens faces when Maggie tells her story from the porch of the trading post at Fort Randolph.

Any child would love to hear Kate sing. We all loved her when we were children. Her "God Bless America" was the most famous of her songs, Probably because it was during WWII. Maggie and I had a conversation about that song one time.

What you wrote about Maggie is so right on. I knew from talking to her behind the scenes what she was going through and kept expecting it to show up in her posts but somehow she would manage to overcome the discomforts and rise above it, was like watching a miracle unfold.

Thank you, Your Honor. I went back to work today and had a very busy patient schedule. I practice oncology as a PA, so you can imagine how shaky I was at first. As the day went on, however, I regained solid ground and I even felt led to share my loss with a couple of special patients. They seemed almost relieved to be able to show concern and give comfort to someone else, if even for a few moments. God really filled me with compassion today -- wow! My prayer is (and has been) that he'll use me to the utmost to help others.

Yes, Mom was very special. She's given me so much. My family appreciates you and all of her friends on FR. I'm frustrated that I can't reply individually to all of you -- please forgive me.

Good Steve. You learned something important there today. Human beings are made by God to serve Him and others. You gave those patients a chance to feel useful instead of helpless. A terminal patient (as you well know) loses almost all of their autonomy. Your pain was lessened by your sharing the load with those who understand pain. Being your Mother's son, there is no doubt that you will help others in every way that you can.

Please come by and say hello at least once a week. We need to keep our connection to your Mom. You have my e-mail. Keep your Aunt Nan up to speed on your life and work. Love you (((((Steve)))))

To the Mayor, not sure who you are, I am so proud of the tribute you made for the family of Maggie, my stepmom. She was a great lady and a joy for me to meet. I want to thank all of you for the kind words you have given her. I have saved so many of the gifs you all have made for her. I have some on my laptop as my screensaver and desktop. Please help Bernie and his family get through this grief. Thanks Roger Martin, Bernies son.

Hi Roger, really nice to meet you.

Your stepmom was more of a Blessing to me than I could ever say. We go back many years in this forum. I joined in Oct 2000 and met Maggie here at the Finest and the original Canteen.

She constantly inspired me and encouraged me to keep fighting the good fight in my politics. I am a Conservative living in New York and fighting the corrupt political machines. Maggie read my site and followed my political battles over these past years. She always offered her Prayers of support and like I said, encouraged me to continue on.

I post the Daily Bread everyday with a cup of coffee, she loved to read them and always responded, everyday Thanking me for posting them and added her commentary which was always insightful.

Doing this thread was and is my Honor, my words come right from my Heart, I can truly say I Loved her for who she was even tho we have never met in person. We shared many emails "Eaglesone" about her life, her sickness and through it all her Strength and Faith shined through with every word.
