TOKYO (AP) Japanese broadcaster NHK says North Korea has test-launched a missile.
If we can see it on the launch pad, why aren't we or Japan taking it out?
I live in Dupont - another 20 miles south. I am also watching this very closely.
Given that our stuff can pinpoint the location of any such launch, we knew it wasn't The Big Missile even before it left the pad. We probably know more about the performance of that rocket than the North Koreans do....
Uh, act of war ring a bell??
Wait for it...
Probably because they'd see it as an overt act of war.
Too bad.
I have to wonder if they can launch the big one without help from the chinese.
A decoy? That missire must have been awfurry ronery as it sprashed into the bliney brue.
Iranian Missle Engineers Visited North Korea To Gather Info On Taepodong-2 Missle Launce

Maybe they are trying to show off to the Iranians. Possibly wanting the ICBM to be grand finale.
Imagine if GWB sent a diplomatic note to NK acknowledging the fireworks salute to America's 230th birthday with thanks from the American people? I'll bet the ronery one's head would explode. Someone tell Karl Rove :)
Just reporting what I am listening to...
US NORTHCOM Placed on High Alert

By Sher Zieve On 4 July, Fox News reports that the US Northern Command (Northcom) in Colorado was placed on high alert. The status is said to be due to North Koreas plans to launch a long-range ballistic missile.
On Monday, North Korea announced that it was prepared to begin a nuclear war with the United States, if the US conducted a preemptive attack to stop its missile launch test. The missile is believed to be able to reach the US mainland. It is not currently known if Northcoms alert status is due to an imminent missile launch by North Korea.
you want a first strike attack on NK? OK, what do we then do when they then pour 1 million men over the border into south korea?
I think it's an open secret that Japan has a substantial store of nukes right now. They very strongly hinted as much a few years ago.
Some moron at the NASA briefing just asked if they had heard about the NK missile launch (duh, they've been in the briefing for the past hour) and would this mean NK would COMPETE with NASA.
NASA's response: "No comment."
China is driving all of this.
NAHHH...me thinks Kim had missle envy with the Challenger going up...and his big dong wasn't able to perform...you know...(well maybe not) the dreaded "performance anxiety" issue...so he resorted to his trusty back up...
