The Biden Factor By Salena Zito TRIBUNE-REVIEW Sunday, July 2, 2006
Blunt, charismatic, smart and blessed with a can't-help-yourself appeal that crosses most geo-social-economic-political lines.
Meet Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., long-time member of the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary and 13 key subcommittees, from border security to crimes and drugs.
And Democrat presidential candidate in 2008.
"Am I running? Yes," he told me during an interview ranging from the all-important upcoming midterms to his bid for the nation's highest office.

Biden is so disgusting
someone else at the paper is covering her so I cannot, plus i know her pretty well, would probably not be fair to her, too many people would cry foul
thanks for the insight
Read some of the other comments in this thread. Mine was merely cruder than the others (of those I saw). If you were offended I apologize, but your characterization of a mediocrity who made it into the Senate is way over the top.
The thought of his socialist leanings is bad enough but those hair plugs for four years, the turned on clown smile (like Hillary's) and those ultra whitened big choppers ugh!
no worries
just remember I am NOT advocating him.
If you read my stuff (link below) you know that I am a staunch conservative, pro-military budget hawking close the freaking boarder chick.
:)
I am also Calabrese, which means keep your friends close...you know the saying. It is my job to interview each and every one of the guys running for office.
If republicans are smart, and they are, if they do not know from which angle their competition is running from then how in the heck do they set up a strategy to run against him or any other of possible candidates...
Just saying you gotta know your enemy--so why not let him define himself??????
then sit back, look at who he or she is, and dismantle their self scripted bio--the GOP was thrilled when Kerry defined him self--gave them perfect ammo to dismantle
Biden thinks himself as many things, read them again, and learn
he will run on them
and lesser sleepers have risen from the bottom
so be prepared
the GOP should never be caught off guard and always reading and researching who their competition is
i will be intervewing each and every one of these guys, would not rather know who they are, or who they think they are?
'just sayin'
Why do they let this species bred!
Something to do on a long holiday weekend, find one original thought from Mr. Biden. Has to be original.
Blunt, charismatic, smart and blessed with a can't-help-yourself appeal that crosses most geo-social-economic-political lines. Meet Sen. Joe Biden, serial LIAR and plagiarizer.
Things Joe Biden 'said'...
The maggot is so slimy he leaves a trail wherever he goes.
:)
Sorry about the "nonsense" thing. Having read more of your columns, I understand better and think that you are doing a difficult job very well.
Cheers and Happy 4th!
I wonder if his best friend RINO Carlito Hagel will endorse him?
I'm curious on your thoughts. In 2004, the "Deaniacs" collapsed in the primaries. Dean was credited with using the internet in new, creative, successful ways, yet the momentum failed when old guard Democrats focused on bringing him down. A lot of attention has been given to Kos and DU and Moveon, how they are forcing the party farther to the left. Conventional wisdom since Nixon has it that you court the extreme base in the primary, and then move to the middle for the general election to court the moderates. There are probably a lot of reasons why Dean lost, and one of them has to be that his lead in the polls came from young voters, who are notorious for not showing up on election day. I wonder if Kos & Co. aren't being given a little too much credibility too soon. After all, he has yet to back a winning candidate. Just thinking outside the box for a moment, I wonder if the old strategy of focusing on the extreme of the base will lead to failure for the Dems in 2008, just like it did for Dean in 2004. (One could also argue that Kerry was hurt by trying to appeal to both moderate Dems and the leftest zealots, causing a lot of flip flopping.)
No, smart and charismatic are both words with definate meanings. Look them up in the dictionary. If you want to prove the author is being subjective this is not the way to do it. Furthermore, any politician who has been as successful as Biden would probably be both smart and charismatic. What's wrong with your perspective that you don't realize that?
Why insult the snakes?....Joe "Plugs" Biden, is a *******$$$$$$#####@@@@@
right back at you!
and no worries
i guess i better get used to this, i am going to be interviewing everyone this summer that is running on both sides, and i want to let them, the candidates that islet er rip early as to who they are running as
so my conservative readers are going to be a little put out
by rhino's, D's and the kitchen sink
oh well
i would rather know who someone plans on running as than be blindsided
Happy fourth, i get to spend it on the south lawn of the white house this year!!
:)
"If you want to prove the author is being subjective this is not the way to do it. Furthermore, any politician who has been as successful as Biden would probably be both smart and charismatic."
Lol. Good grief. Since when is a politician's "success" or length of service a measure of their "smartness"? As for the "charasmatic" label, many men have been successful yet lacked charisma. Sorry, but Biden lacks it. It's a matter of opinion, not a fact. It's subjective. Biden is neither particularly smart, nor charasmatic.
I'm not interested in "proving" anything.
The article began with the author listing attributes to Biden that clearly expressed her opinion. Then she defended herself by saying she was just presenting the facts. She even said, "Point well taken" in #68.
Maybe you missed it.
I don't believe Biden can mount a serious run in '08 since he isn't far enough left to get the whacko vote that'll go to Feingold, and can't stand up to Hillary. Whoever gets the (d) nod in '08 will have to attract enough of the whackos and moderate dems to go anywhere.
