The Biden Factor By Salena Zito TRIBUNE-REVIEW Sunday, July 2, 2006

Blunt, charismatic, smart and blessed with a can't-help-yourself appeal that crosses most geo-social-economic-political lines.

Meet Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., long-time member of the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary and 13 key subcommittees, from border security to crimes and drugs.

And Democrat presidential candidate in 2008.

"Am I running? Yes," he told me during an interview ranging from the all-important upcoming midterms to his bid for the nation's highest office.

We (the Paper) did an editorial board with him a couple of months ago...

Diana needs lots of money-she is very bright, very good on the stump and is doing a great job of retail politicking

Whoever writes such nonsense needs to get out more. A Biden candidacy would produce the same kind of glorious victory won by other northeasterners such as Rockefeller, Cuomo, Ferraro, Dukakis, Sharpton, Kerry, and Lieberman.

All the cozy New York media love stories can't overcome what the rest of the country knows to be true: Northeastern candidates are intelligent, polished, articulate--and woefully out of touch with the rest of America.

Even the Dem base knows this.

Even Joe knows it. It's just a self-aggrandizing move on his part. A resume padder, so when he kicks off, his obituary will read , " presidential candidate " .

Biden is a ego with a suit.

With bad hair and poor speech writers.

Biden is slimy.

Yes, he's a serial plagiarizer. He'll never live that down.

But, his lowest moment was at Strom Thurmond's funeral. He was graciously asked to say a few words in eulogy. However, Biden couldn't resist the temptation to give a long, rambling lecture on race relations to his captive South Carolina congregation and Strom's relatives.

The Thurmond family was furious at Joe Biden for trying to politicize the funeral of a man who had lived to be over 100 years old.

Biden doesn't walk, he slithers.

He may not be far enough to the left to attract the DUmmie and KOSsack voting bloc.

You mean the voting bloc that propelled Howard Dean to a third place finish in Iowa? The DUmmies and KOmmies, the in-crowd du jour, are leading the Dems right off a cliff.

I write this nonsense.

my job is to cover all of the candidates, read the link below and see my profile last week on the GOP contenders.
He was an interesting interview and will bring out a different component for the D's as they fight for what their platform will be.

He's open to the "plagerism charge", but that isn't really much of an issue

Personable, hair-plugged snakes are still snakes.

There's a reason Senators make poor candidates: public records. Kerry tried hard to bury his, but didn't succeed in the end.

Biden might need to 'splain stuff like this, for instance.

Holy knee pads Batman!
Is this a paid political ad or did Salena Zito just give Biden a journalistic 'Lewinsky'??? (rhetorical)

Ahhhh, the Barrett Report. Don't hear that name much anymore do we? I keep hoping it turns up as an October surprise (06 or 08, doesn't matter). I thought Grassley was going to 'out it'? Some very powerful people really don't want it available to the public. Wonder why?
