"Car rams crowd
Injures 11 at speedboat race"
By AP
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "MADISON, Ind. -- A car plowed into a crowd yesterday at a speedboat race on the Ohio River, injuring 11 people, police said.
The driver, Michael Bowen, 18, was slumped over the steering wheel as the vehicle approached a crowd barrier along the riverfront at the Madison Regatta, Madison Police Chief Bob Wolf said.
The car cut through the crowd, hit a golf cart used by officials and stopped about 25 feet out in the Ohio River. Bowen was unconscious when he was pulled from the water, Wolf said.
Bowen and a juvenile passenger were among the 11 injured. Four of the injured, including Bowen, were airlifted to hospitals in Louisville, Ky., about 60 kilometres away, Wolf said. Others were transported to several other area hospitals.
Police do not know what caused the accident, but said charges may be filed."

Iraqi lawmaker: numbers of officials found in al-Zarqawi's cell phone
WAVY.com ^ | WAVY

BAGHDAD, Iraq In the aftermath of last month's air strike that killed Abu Musab al-Zarqawi (AH'-boo MOO'-sahb ahl-zahr-KOW'-ee), his cell phone included the phone numbers of several senior Iraqi officials.
An Iraqi lawmaker did not identify the officials. But he says they included ministry employees and members of Iraq's Parliament.
The lawmaker called for an investigation to punish those whose numbers were found. He says Iraqis "cannot have one hand with the government and another with the terrorists."
Al-Zarqawi and several aides were killed in the airstrike north of Baghdad on June seventh.

"Spain subway crash: Dozens dead"
Monday, July 3, 2006; Posted: 1:41 p.m. EDT (17:41 GMT)
VALENCIA, Spain (CNN) --
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Luis Felipe Martinez, subdelegate of the government, said a combination of excessive speed and a broken wheel appeared to be at fault. "One of the wheels broke, which is what caused the derailment," he said.
CNN+ reported the death toll at 36. The newspaper El Pais said "at least 34" were dead.
The government of Valencia, a city of 800,000 people about 350 kilometers (220 miles) southeast of Madrid, said 32 people were hurt, two of them critically, five seriously, five moderately and 20 lightly."
ARTICLE SNIPPET #2: "The train was traveling along the Number 1 line when it derailed in the subway tunnel along a curve in the track -- called a precaution zone -- as it was traveling from Plaza de Espana to Jesus Station, officials said."
A blessed, peaceful and safe Independence Day to you Smartass.

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Hundreds of thousands of people have begun traveling to Valencia for this week's World Meeting of the Families, which will be attended July 8-9 by Pope Benedict XVI.
More than 60 million people used Valencia's subway system in 2005, according to the network's Web site, which averages out to some 165,000 people a day. The subway has four lines and 116 stations.
Recent mass transit accidents in Spain include one in Madrid in January 2005 in which about 20 people were slightly injured when a train with passengers bumped into an empty one at Madrid's Atocha station.
A more serious accident occurred in June 2003 when 19 people were killed and 48 injured in a head-on crash in central Spain. The crash, in which a passenger train collided with a freight train, occurred outside the station in the town of Chinchilla.
Bombs placed on commuter trains in Madrid by Islamic radicals killed 191 people in March 2004."

This is not the New York Times
And this is not the edition of Internet Haganah you were supposed to be seeing today. What we were planning on featuring was a new report from the Society for Internet Research - the first public report from SoFIR to be released in a year. The report details how the "proliferation of jihadist websites" can be linked to the activities of just a few individuals. The report is based entirely on open sources of information or intelligence we gathered on our own. However, in addition to a certain amount of peer review, we also provided a draft of the report to an Interested Third Party. The Interested Third Party was interested enough that they asked if we would please hold off on publishing the report until they had time to act on whatever actionable intelligence the report contained.
We live in a time of war, and yet here in the USA there is no censorship. We are perfectly free to publish our report, garner a few splashy headlines, and the consequences be damned.
But this is not the New York Times.
We are on a mission. A mission to help make bad things happen to bad people in order to prevent bad things from happening to good people.
And if that means y'all have to wait for the rest of the story, well, that's what that means.
