:::FreeRepublic's Threat Matrix:::
Bin Laden Says Will Take Fight to America
(Full Story)

Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden said his group reserved the right to fight the United States on its land and warned Washington and the world community against sending forces to Somalia, according to an Internet audio tape.

"We will fight its (U.S.) soldiers on the land of Somalia ... and we reserve the right to punish it on its land and anywhere possible," said the speaker, who sounded like the Saudi-born militant.

"We warn all of the countries in the world not to respond to America by sending international troops to Somalia," he said of the African nation where Islamists' power is rising.

Yes, you're right.

N. Korea Launches Missile Into Sea of Japan

http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/07/04/D8ILCR380.html

North Korea test-launched a missile Wednesday that landed in the Sea of Japan, Japanese media reported.

The reclusive communist state launched the missile at 3:32 a.m., or 2:32 p.m. Tuesday EDT, and it crashed into the Sea of Japan several minutes later, public broadcaster NHK reported.

NHK said Japanese government officials were trying to determine whether it was a long-range ballistic missile that had been readied for launch recently. North Korea had been thought to be preparing a test-launch of its Taepodong 2 missile, which is believed to be able to reach parts of the United States.

Officials were not immediately available to confirm the report.

"N. Korea Reportedly Launches 4 Missiles"

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "TOKYO (AP) - North Korea test-launched at least two mid-range missiles Wednesday that landed in the Sea of Japan, Japanese media reported, and a State Department official said the North appeared ready to launch the long-range Taepodong-2.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Il is seen in this framegrab taken from Chinese television on January 18, 2006. The North stepped up its rhetoric with the United States on Monday. Japan's Kyodo news agency said they were believed to be mid-range Rodong missiles and landed about 300 miles off the western coast of Japan's Hokkaido Island.

A Pentagon official, who spoke only on condition of anonymity, identified two of the missiles as Scuds.

"The launch appears not to be the launch that has been in the news. This appears to be a launch of a lesser variety of scud missiles," the official said.

However, the State Department official said North Korea appeared ready to launch the long-range Taepodong-2 missile. The official, who also spoke on condition of anonymity, did not confirm that the Taepodong-2 had been launched. Experts believe a Taepodong 2 could reach the United States with a light payload.

The reclusive communist state launched the first missile at 3:32 a.m., or 2:32 p.m. Tuesday EDT, and it crashed into the Sea of Japan several minutes later, public broadcaster NHK reported. NHK said two missiles were confirmed launched, but Kyodo quoted a government official as saying four missiles may have been fired.

Han Song Ryol, deputy chief of North Korea's mission to the U.N. in New York, told The Associated Press in a telephone interview: "We diplomats do not know what the military is doing.""

By Sher Zieve – North Korea test fired a missile on Tuesday. A Japanese news service was the first to report the story.

Fox News advises that the missile is not believed to be the multi-stage long range missile that has caused concern over recent days. However, details are still sketchy and the type of missile fired has not yet been confirmed.

UPDATE: The missile is reported to have landed in the Sea of Japan.
