one guy actually was trying to convince another that eating plants was no different than eating an animal, they both "feel" pain, and it was as cruel to a plant to boil it alive as it was to a lobster.

Did you give the secret FReeper hand signal to him to see if he was one of our deep cover agents over there?

"...one guy actually was trying to convince another that eating plants was no different than eating an animal, they both "feel" pain, and it was as cruel to a plant to boil it alive as it was to a lobster."

I once slammed a vegetarian (with a pony-tail) that I know with this same arguement. To further it, I also told him that the mere act of harvesting vegtables kills millions of bugs, mice, moles, snakes, and other small animals - vegetarians are guilty of bug-genocide (gasp!). Furthermore, in cruely ripping the tomato from the vine, he was denying that plant the right to reproduce in the manner that God and nature intended. The very act of his eating was an abomination to nature and should be stopped!

I'm hope he now feels guilty every time he takes a bite of food - idiot!

Whole Foods is so expensive ...

That's because it costs extra to put E coli from animal wastes into their organic vegetables. For me, I want veggies fertilized with chemical nitrogen instead of feces.

Does this mean that they will now be giving them away instead of selling them?

This is moon bat stuff.

Lobsters may be filthy animals, but lobster tastes good.

Now sewer rat, I wouldn't eat those even if they tasted like pumpkin pie.

It definitely is inhumane to boil someone alive. But, it's a feakin' lobster, not a person... (and therefore, does not fit the definition)

Lobster rolls, anyone?

the obsession with animal welfare has become an absurdity

While I was waiting in my vet's office last week, I overheard him on the telephone discussing a kidney transplant for a kitten.

From now on, Whole Foods will only sell frozen raw and cooked lobster products at its more than 180 stores in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, said Margaret Wittenberg, vice president of quality standards. And the chain will only deal with suppliers meeting their standards for humane treatment, handling and processing.

So they think it is cruel for me to boil a lobster, but they are willing to take on the guilt of either freezing or boiling to death God's poor little ugly but tasty creatures for me (at a $10/lb extra markup).

Why do they make that moaning noise when you drop them into the boiling water?

That's steam escaping the shell.

Take a big iron pan, garlic, onions, brown. Then take 6 cups of chicken stock, fish stock, and a cup of rice, saffron and Mediterranean seasoning, tblsp, cook down.

One pound of scollop's, one pound of haddock, and six Lobsters arranged artfully, cook until done, check that rice doesn't stick, add stock.

What a bunch of politically correct BS.

I don't shop those whole food places because frankly they over charge for the privilege of shopping in their politically correct stores.

Organically grown is just another excuse to jack up prices on politically correct liberals who think their getting better food.

Of course this does go along with organically grown marijuana.

I don't have a problem with this. Whole Foods can decline to sell live lobsters all they want, it's their business to run.

I thought about it, but I don't think any freeper could make to 1000+ posts without going totally insane...

Throw in a pound of Mussels and steamers. I have this when I have my yearly inspection of children and grandchildren. Use olive oil, for the browning part, low heat is good.

Grandkids get hamburgers though.
