If the House can somehow label the ANWR bill as "Immediate Cash Assistance To Illegal Immigrants" the Senate will have it passed by tomorrow afternoon.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry; it's funny and sad at the same time because it is true!

I can't wait until the first drop of oil reaches refineries in 2014.

That was the mentality that let Clinton get away with vetoing it in 1995. And it would be suppling fuel for us today otherwise.

2,000 acres out of 19 million???????

Worse than that, Alaska has 16 National Wildlife Refuges spanning 70 million acres and the National Parks in Alaska encompass 21 million acres of designated wilderness and another 9 million acres of that has been petitioned to be designated wilderness.

100 MILLION ACRES.

Didn't the senate pass it back in 1996 only to have it vetoed by Clinton?

1995 I believe.

Years after veto, ANWR is still debated, UPI, Washington Times

Will Bush work as hard for this as he did for his amnesty, give away, for illegals? No way will he. He just about has what he wants, the immigration bill, and if he can get it through the house look for him to coast the rest of his term.

The senate will defeat this.

The Senate is run by liberals. This will NEVER get through them.

I don't believe this will go anywhere.

The truth is this country is going to have to experience a REAL energy crisis before people wake up.

A vote against ANWAR at this point in time is like voting for stronger ties with the Arab nations.

Oyt'll be another 100 years before our oil use goes down.

Actually it got through the Senate one time when it was attached to a budget bill but then got killed in the House (ironic).

Correct, and not too long ago IIRC. There were RINO's in the House who came out publically denouncing the bill at the time. Of course the media lapped up a Republican bragging about shooting down ANWR like a cat and a bowl of milk.

There is NO way you are going to convince these self serving Senators. They Must be replaced. But the amount of dollars they receive from Saudi and other counties they must fear competition from other companies. The major player will fight it HEAD on, until they have a major stake!

If I'm not mistaken the Dems have more seats up for grabs in the Senate this mid-term than the GOP does so it ought to be interesting hearing the liberals try to justify protecting the caribou and the "pristine" environment in the face of $3.50 a gallon gas.

I like it.

It isn't a matter of it getting more votes then not in the Senate. It's gotten bipartisan support both times. Just not 60.
