Great! Just caught it on Fox also. As an old friend of mine once said about ANWR..."We need to make like a sailor in port and drill ANWR like a $2 whore."

Excuse the lingo....he said it.

Well, you gotta have a program for all those guest workers to participate in. Might as well be funded by the government, aka taxpayers. (It will be, either way).

I'm not holding my breath that his means anything.

Maria Cantwell and all the other energy obstructionists in the Senate will do everything to kill it.

The House approves ANWR drilling all the time. It's the Senate that blocks it.

Good. Too bad we didn't get offshore drilling ban lifted, but this one sure can't hurt.

Now I expect gas prices to immediately plummet 25 cents. Because that's how much they would have gone up if they posted some story about Chavez having a stomach ache.

Say what!?

I must be dreaming!

I'm cubicle bound so I don't get the news much.

Is it true?

Too bad the senate will be a brick wall.

Bingo!

I won't get too excited about this yet.

"Maverick John McCain will stop this in its tracks."

This POC doesn't have a say about it. He's done, stick a fork in him. The American people have spoken and he and the rest are being called on the carpet. Long overdue, but heartening non the less.

House votes for oil drilling in Alaska refuge 16 minutes ago

Yahoo News

The U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday approved a plan to allow oil drilling in Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

The House passed a plan sponsored by California Republican Richard Pombo that would allow drilling on 2,000 acres (811 hectares) of ANWR out of the refuge's total 19 million acres.

Tapping the 10 billion barrels of crude estimated to lay beneath the refuge is a key part of the Bush administration's national energy plan to reduce U.S. reliance on petroleum imports, which now comprise about 60 percent of U.S. supplies.

But many Democrats and environmentalists argue there is not enough oil to justify destroying the habitat for ANWR's polar bears, caribou and other wildlife.

The Senate will never accept this legislation. Our legislators, on OUR side of the aisle, are a bunch of spineless buffoons.

Too bad the senate will be a brick wall.

Exactly. This is nothing new. The House has passed ANWR before and it died in the senate.

"Not to worry. Maverick John McCain will stop this in its tracks."

When is he up for re-election so I can contribute to his opponent?

Actually it got through the Senate one time when it was attached to a budget bill but then got killed in the House (ironic). These Senators who vote against the will of the people better get ready to pack their bags come election time for them and gas is $5 a gallon and oil is over $100 a barrel because there will be a backlash.
