McGreevey, Partner May Nest In NYC

TRENTON, N.J. -- Former Gov. James E. McGreevey and his new partner are still house hunting, and have broadened their search to include possible digs in New York City.

A spokesman for the couple said the nation's first openly gay governor and his investment adviser partner of several months plan to rent an apartment in Manhattan while looking for more permanent quarters in New York or New Jersey. They had been eyeing a house in Plainfield, a gay-friendly city in central New Jersey, but the deal recently fell through.

"They have sold the loft in the city and are going to rent an apartment in the city until they decide where they are going to live," said Jonathan Capehart, who handles publicity for McGreevey and his partner, Mark O'Donnell.

McGreevey, 48, stunned the nation by revealing himself as "a gay American" in August 2004. He announced his homosexuality and his intent to resign in the same nationally televised speech. His aides said McGreevey had been involved in an extramarital affair with a man on his staff.

The former governor has a wife from whom he is separated, a former wife, and a daughter with each.

After leaving office in November 2004, more than a year before his term was up, the former governor began work on a memoir with writer David France. The book, titled "The Confession," is due in stores Sept. 19.

In a 16-page excerpt released at a national book fair on Saturday, McGreevey reveals a personal hell as he struggled with his homosexuality. His conflicted past included anonymous trysts with men at highway rest stops and trips to strip clubs meant to bolster a false image as a womanizer, according to the excerpts.

Judith Regan, chief executive officer of publisher Regan Books, said the memoir is the most candid she has ever come across.

"This is a man who is able to talk about his personal and political triumphs and tragedies in a profound and insightful way," said Regan.

She said she believed writing the book was painful for McGreevey, a lifelong Catholic, but was also cathartic.

"He's more relaxed and comfortable living the life he was meant to live," she said.

Stunned the nation?

Hardley, who ever you are that wrote this tripe.

Homosexual perversion is no longer a shock to anyone over the age of six. The only "shock", to me, is that the rest of humanity believes that the practice of homosexual behavior is somehow acceptable, but that evil, second hand cigarette smoke, is killing mountain climbers on top of Mt. Everest.

Too bad the people I'd LIKE to read candid autobiographies by won't/didn't write them. Instead this nobody has to tell all about things I couldn't care less about.

I didn't know that there were any truck stops in NYC. Wouldn't they be more comfortable searching along I-95 in Jersey?

I've said it before, I'll say it again, and I'd say it to his stinking face if I had the opportunity:

What a disgusting POS and a typical dumbocrat.

His wives should write a book about the hell this sock sucker put them through. His daughters face a life knowing their father had them to further his image. Any man who hangs around toilets looking for male sex needs to be castrated. He is a sickening perverted low life POS. Destroying the lives of those who loved him.

" . . . anonymous trysts with men at highway rest stops . . . "

It's crap like this that gives gay men a real bad image.

Notice that they leave out the part where he betrayed his marriage vows, cheated on his wife, lied to and then abandoned his family so he could follow his twisted "desires".

He was not an "openly gay" governor. He came out and announced his resignation at the same time (it was effective a couple of weeks later.)

Can't imagine the pain his wife, ex-wife and daughters are going through. While its none of my business, I hope he wasn't having intimate relations with his wife once he started cruising the rest rooms and engaging in unsafe sex practices.

Why would he think anyone is interested in his "Confessions"? Hasn't he humiliated himself and his family enough?

What a pig!

Seriously, the pervert should be in jail for endangering the welfare of his wife and child. Goodness only knows what he could have brought home to them.

Poster child for safe sex?! I think not!

Another FReeper mentioned on another thread the FACT that McGreevey publicly donated blood - CERTAINLY blatantly lying against ALL typical blood donation concerns over all the risky behavior. Imagine that. A politician engaging in a personal coverup.

His first wife would have a lot of credibility. His second wife would have none -- seeing how she married him even though everyone else knew that moron was as gay as the day is long.

They also left out the part where McGreevey publicly gave blood during his politician years. Would you want to have been a recipient of his blood given his multi-partner gay life?!! Ye gods!

Actually he should be in jail for appointing his homosexual foreign national lover as the state's Homeland Security Director. Of course, the Repubs retreated back to the shadows when the homo card was pulled.

This guy's homo lust endangered his whole state and the country, not to mention the torture he put his family through.

His confessions of truck stop sex sessions are nauseating. It's apparently the fault of "society" that he sought quickies in filthy roadside bathrooms.
