I searched but did not see a thread already open for tonights speech. I think this is the most important speech the President will probably make for the remainder of his term.
Mod Note:
This could turn into a whack-a-troll thread. All immigration trolls that would like to participate should post here. It'll be interesting to see if we mods can whack the trolls faster than they can sign up new accounts.
Jim
I guess you missed "going to the back of the line."
FYI. I am not a dimwit.
I only corrected your assertion about the Mayflower.
I know there were Spaniards were here and most likely the Danes were here before them.
You owe me an apology, boy.
"Just one more nothing speech. He is a lame duck with 2 1/2 years to go. In a year he will be beyond lame, maybe paralyzed."
He will be impeached next year.
The Democrats will take both houses of Congress in November, and Speaker Pelosi will begin the investigation and impeachment hearings.
The President had one last, clear shot to escape looming catastrophe. He chose to be stubborn steam into the iceberg. Too bad, but there it is.
/They have more room back in their countries than we have in our jails.
Send them back.
In twenty years it will be 500 to 600 million.
You are a product of public education, read a history book.
Got to go...I have to brush up on my spanish so I can order a hamburger.
How recent do you mean? What are the illegal aliens who are a few months or even years short of amnesty going to do? Do you think they're going home, or will they just stay here, living as before, since they know there is little chance they will be caught AND deported.
I understood the President to say that there would be 6,000 initially and reduced, not eliminated, at the end of one year. At the same time the Border Patrol would be beefed up. I see no problem with that, assuming that is enough bodies.
'They will try until they get in' ... or until there is a workable guest worekr and naturalization program which they can avail to save their families from poverty like one sees in Vincente's feudal state of Mexico. And that's why the president laid out a dual objective, not just border enforcement. I'm with AnnaZX, I thought the speech was one of his better ones and it proposed a rational approach, which of course the democraps will quickly derail because they don't want ANY success while Bush is president.
Ok. So define "Immigration Troll"....
Is that a person who is FOR securing the border?
OR
Is that a person who wants to keep the staus quo?
Whenever I see Hastert, I want ice cream.
Why?
Yea right, sure, uh-huh. Wake up Jeff, all they need is a drivers license, with no proof of citizenship, to vote here in Colorado. They just registered by the thousands here lately at their marches.
When one sits down and thinks about the corruption going on around us, it boggles the mind.
Oh, I'm sorry, you were talking about "guest workers", not illegal aliens.
LOL!
O'reilly had Aguilar, the BP guy, on, he says the NG will be, in addition to helicopter, lasers & UAV, they willl be like the Seabees building and repairing fences, building roads for better BP access. That's OK....
....He has Col. David Hunt on now detailing much the same thing, no ground patrolling for the NG but lots of surveillance and infratructure support. Thumbs up for that.
As an investigator I will start leaking some of the dirt I have on local Republicans. I should be lots of fun.
You are worthy of more respect than Mary Mapes and Dan Rather in what way? In that you announce your intentions in advance?
Have fun. You'll be a hero at DU, but you don't belong at this forum anymore.
There is nothing good in the Presidente's speech today at all for Americans.
Yep. After tonight we better get used to hearing people address "Speaker Pelosi"
