ORLANDO, Fla. - President Bush, his approval ratings at a record low, acknowledged Wednesday that war in Iraq and rising gas prices have created "battle fatigue" among many Americans.
That anxiety, Bush said, has settled over much of the nation as people worry about whether the United States will succeed in Iraq and how they will afford to fill up their tanks.
"There's a sense of disquiet because of the war in Iraq," said Bush, in an hour-long interview with the Orlando Sentinel and six other Florida newspapers.

GWB has lost command on many issues. A real leader would not give up on ANWR over a few liberal voices, no, the RINO's and him all backed down. That he has. Which is so painful for me too accept
ANWR and domestic drilling after 9/11 should have been a top priority, not a slogan.
Amen. I'm tired of the oil producing anti-American countries having us over the barrel, and their knowing they have us over a barrel.

OMG LOL This thread should go into the Knee-Jerk Reaction Hall of Fame. My jerked knee contribution is at Post 131.
I just thought of a way for the Feds to pay off some of the national debt. I'd pay good money for every time I got to slap a politician upside the head. Twenty bucks a pop sounds about right to me.

Until then, I just assume that all they're doing is flapping their lips. It wouldn't hurt them any to stop the flow of illegals first and then tackle the guest-worker hogwash at a later date. As things stand now, I feel like I'm being given the bum's rush.Pretty much sums up my thoughts as well.....Until they actually DO something....it's all just lip-service.
Politic's have been dumbed down lower and lower. Down to the lowest common denominator. That's why I get so darn ticked off...cause like you mentioned we get the "bum's rush"...they treat the thousands that have critical thinking skills like numbskulls...so they can win the millions of idiot's votes.
I figure this is the way it's been now for quite some time....because I've been royally irritated for years now.
But what do I know? I'm just an Okie.

I have concerns about stuff and my priorities like anyone else. I would probably vote for him again too if he was running. That doesn't mean I agree everything he does though. I find no fault with how he has run the war. I don't like our borders open for security and economic reasons but he's kept us safe so far. I do fault him for Post Katrina though. I know he wants to be compassionate but nothing he can do is going to please their government leaders. I would have preferred him to have had a better exit strategy. That's me though and I didn't vote for me:')

You're fatigued? Imagine living here. They never shut up.
Between our officials...give, give, give and the Kartina people...take, take, take, it's almost enough to send someone not hitting on all cylinders to go postal.

Is it just me or is there a large number of Democratic Trolls on Free Republic today?!?!?

Hopefully we can get a bill out that reflects the principles that I've espoused, which is a strong border security measure, coupled with interior enforcement, measures that will be effective, coupled with a temporary worker program." Same old, same old, Tin ear, Tin drum.

I'd pay good money for every time I got to slap a politician upside the head. Twenty bucks a pop sounds about right to me. If $20 could buy a slap upside the head, how much do you think we would have to pay to give a politician a good old-fashioned Texas Butt-whuppin'?

Stand up for your own policies, period. His own policies are the reason for the low polls.
Policies suck, popularity sucks.

Go back to DU!
Actually those at DU are hoping that he continues to believe his numbers are due to gas prices and Iraq. I think that those that are po'ed about those two issues would never give Bush high marks anyway.
No, his descent into the 30's has a lot to do with a conservative base that is hot enough to fry eggs on.

"It's the illegal immigration, Stupid!"
Really? Not sure I heard about this illegal immigration debate during the 2004 election cycle? Bush's numbers have been going down way before this.
Just add it to the collection.

Like it or not that's the conclusion I came to ... I don't like it, cause it is so wrong.
Bush was the first to suggest total evacuation.
He could have had every uniformed person in the military standing on the coastline with all tanks, planes, ships blazing and guess what? We would have had the same outcome only with a bunch of dead soldiers.
Having been through several hurricanes I think I know the score.

He knows why the people are upset with him.Democrats dislike him because he is a Republican. (Even though he acts like a Democrat)
Republicans dislike him because he acts like a Democrat.
