Convicted Sept. 11 conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui says he lied on the witness stand about being involved in the plot and wants to withdraw his guilty plea because he now believes he can get a fair trial.

In a motion filed Friday but released today, Moussaoui said he testified March 27 he was supposed to hijack a fifth plane on Sept. 11, 2001, and fly it into the White House "even though I knew that was a complete fabrication."

Does anyone think he'll get a "fair" trial?

Does anyone care?

Besides he's had his fair trial. The next one need not be lengthy.

He can probably be found not guilty...if he's lucky enough to get the same jury.

"You do not have a right to appeal your convictions, as was explained to you when you plead guilty" in April 2005

The conviction he can't appeal, but the sentence he can, probably on the same basis of coercion, or maybe on the instructions to the jury which sentenced him.

Why pull the NYPD back about 20 blocks? I'm sure they'd like in on the action.

To give the NYFD a good shot at him first?

Far more fireman, including one who was one of "mine", an Air Guardsman, were killed on 911 than police.

Guess he changed his mind on the "I won, America lost" thing real fast.

Yup! Maybe all the people whining about how he "won" because we didn't give him the death penalty will realize they were too hasty too.

I'll bet he was shocked when he arrived at the SuperMax prison and realized that a) it's not like the warm-fuzzy prisons he saw on fictional American TV dramas, b) while the court system treated him with kid gloves, the prison system *won't*, and c) they won't even tell him what direction he's supposed to turn in his solitary confinement cell to face Mecca.

Too bad, jihadist!

Astronauts on their way to Mars will have more room to move around than he does.

Only because they can move in 3 dimensions, while he'd limited to 2.

I'm just sayin, I think most people would convict him and send him back to jail. IOW, why bother with another trial...?

"Doesn't Islamic law require death of those who commit perjury?"

It's OK for them to lie to "infidels".

Nah! He just made the mistake of bending over in the prison shower to pick up the soap!

He'll have to be a lady to some big bad convict who could break him in two like a matchstick!

This is a French Moroccan Muslim, he might like that. But in SuperMax, he's not likely to get it. Maybe that's why he's changed his tune? Actually he's trying to make us look the fools, but he's the one who's going to be rotting, assuming some future 'rat President doesn't pardon him like Carter pardoned all the draft dodgers and Clinton pardoned almost anyone with a enough scratch, or with a babe willing to trade a Lewinsky for a pardon for her SO.

Roger that. Another Freeper earlier on pointed to Wiki.
Again. I responded to oceanview's comments about a boob tube being installed in each cell, as well as the prisoners being allowed for religous visits.
Apparently you folks did not carefully read my response. I was not the one saying he would have an easy time. I was reacting to if what oceanview said, that in a bit of sarcasim, it appears there will be no solitary confinement as I envisioned, they way it used to be.
Perhaps I will not respond to further pings on this post. Apparently folks do not read what people write.
But thanks for the reference. PS. I knew this stuff before the post came about. They showed what the deal was on the news yesterday. And forty years ago knew basically what solitary confinment was all about in our prisons.

I heard a guest on ABC radio Saturday saying he had an AQ training tape he used in a successful terror trial. (I'm sorry I think it was Larry Kudlow's Show but it could have been Monica Crowley. I was running around and came into the middle of this discussion.)

On the AQ tape the guest said that they were teaching bomb making when someone asked, "What if we're caught?" The instructor told them to ask for a lawyer. The guest said this really impressed the jury. He wondered why the government hadn't shown Moosie's jury this.

I don't think there is any provision for this in the rules, but I wonder if we could let him revoke his plea, then try him again before a competent jury.

He's mocking our system, plain and simple.

"While my answers were legally accurate, I did not volunteer information. Indeed, I did have a relationship with Ms. Lewinsky that was not appropriate."

He needs to look on the bright side. Fifty plus years in solitary confinement, in a concrete cell buried sixty feet under ground, surrounded by hundreds of convicts -- who would love to slice his neck open or beat him to death if they could get the chance -- isn't so bad. Hell, in thirty hears, his mind will be so far gone that he won't even care anymore.

I still think these terrorist monsters who are sentenced to life in prison should be injected with that stuff that permanently paralyzes your entire body, but leaves your brain function unimpaired. They should live the rest of their lives as a human vegetable, strapped to a board, being fed through a straw, with all the time in the world to think about what they did to reap their whirlwind, courtesy of the infidels. As an added touch, we can put a TV in front of them playing anger-management videos 20x7.
