As the saying goes, I would rather see 1000 murderers go free than have one innocent be executed. 45million babies have been executed in America since Roe v. Wade.
Certainly at least some of them were innocent.
Even if scientists are still "unsure" about when life begins (even though we know the origins of life in the universe). Think at least one of those was a baby and not a "thing"?

Hello,
I respectfully disagree. He will (thanks to the ACLU), get to live a life fulfilled, with his Koran, prayer rug, diet that is acceptable to a Muslim, etc... Our enemies will see this as a HUGE sign of weakness. OBL and his buddies are laughing their asses off and planning the next hit on "the weak US". Not saying they will succeed, but this is not a good day in the WOT.
Glad to be here, MOgirl

That is a good point that I hadn't considered. Given the glacial pace of the death penalty in most cases, the feds practically tripped over themselves to kill McVeigh. Why was that?
I haven't read all the posts yet, but the conspiracy theorists suggest he was PTD so quickly so no one would discover the meetings he or his buddy had with al-qaida.

A Mary Astor movie - Man of Iron is on. I'm going to spend the next hour in denial of Moussaoui's existence.

That monster richly deserves the death penalty, and his crime howls for it. But most of all, when the world observes that we do not respond justly, and when they begin to dissect the lame, sentimental, illogical, white-livered explanations of the various jurors in this case, the world will conclude that those jurors ARE America. Excellent post.

I hope he is isolated in prison rather than being allowed to convert those who could be released in the future to the cult radical Islam.

you wouldn't think that way if you were the one innocent.Perhaps you should start your own thread where you can debate the death penalty issue. On this thread, we're talking about the Moussaoui verdict and as you must know by now, he is NOT an innocent. If the death penalty was ever going to be used, this person deserved it.

The worst punishment is making someone sit in jail.
That may be true in this case (debatable), but certainly not in the general sense. People fight tooth and nail to have a death sentence commuted to life in prison.

It didn't take us 60 years to defeat Nazism. I don't want it to take 60 years to defeat Islamonazism.
But the appeals process in fighting the war on terrorism might make it so.

I'm not sure who is worse, Rita Cosby or Greta? From a guys perspective, i'd choose Rita ANY day.
From a woman's perspective, Rita's voice drives me nuts!

An American jury won't execute the worst of the worst, who mocked the victims' families and wished us all dead. We are finished.
To: iltc
but the reason that I oppose the death penalty is the chance of executing an innocent.
Therefor you believe that lack of perfection equals total failure and that this deems inaction the proper course of action. I truly feel sorry for you because that is one looney tune way to go thru life.
To: iltc
Even the liberals beneath us in the DU, in the back of their feeble brains, know that this guy should have gotten the death penalty.
They just won't admit it.
