Just saw United 93-- I thought it was excellent. It evolves in real-time and its cuts back and forth between the Air Traffic controllers, the Military room, and the plane.

It was somewhat shocking to watch the level of confusion in terms of what was going on, but when you see what information that they were dealing with, it makes sense.

The hijackers to me came across more as fanatical than evil, and they were not turban-wearing obvious characters, they were cleaned up and I ride on planes with people like them on every flight I take.

In the movie, they are carrying out the plans of others and are obsessive in their task. We are not fighting an enemy that is likely to be reasoned with.

There is one character that I'm glad they included- he has a European *maybe French* accent and he makes a number of comments along the lines of "If we do what they say, they'll spare our lives"-- typical appeasement mentality.

Thanks to this group of heroes, many thousands of lives may have been spared and we kept the Islamic nuts from claiming the Capitol or White House as a prize.

I give in 9.5/10!

That's a very good recommendation for seeing the film.

To think that Arlen Specter is threatening to cut off funding for NSA because the president is listening to terrorists on the phone.

I know it's sinful, but I hate Arlen Specter.

Yes, I was amazed at how many played themselves in the movie. I would guess about 20 from watching the credits.

I suspect that helped with the incredible realistic "feel" this movie has.

You might want to buy the video or DVD and then if they feel the need to stop watching, they can do so at home.

Is the movie suitable for two boys - both of whom are very familiar with military issues and aren't shy about watching movies with guns, etc? In other words- why the "R" rating?

I would not have a problem with it being shown in High Schools, this movie is amazing! I am still trying to digest what I just saw a few hours ago and a few adult beverages will help. Come on 5pm...lol

One of my favorite all time movies was Tora Tora Tora. I always wished they would make more movies like that - documentary, true history, that touched your soul.

When I first read the descriptions of this movie I thought it might be in that mode. The problem is, whenever I see TTT I always get too mad - and keep wishing the ending would change.

To DUmmies, it's a piece of propaganda. Here's an excerpt from one of the threads over in hell:


Hey, maybe it's a very well-crafted film and a compelling story. But what is driving me nuts is that in every review so far, the reviewers can't seem to avoid fawning over Greengrass's ability to have somehow known what really went on on that plane, even as they try to say "no one really knows what went on." Then they all add "but this perhaps the most accurate accounting we'll ever have." WTF? Who says? The FACT is, Greengrass MADE UP the entire thing based upon the same propaganda every single one of us read in our daily government news feeds, otherwise known as "newspapers" and "cable news."

This film really does a disservice to history, because its version of events will become history. Americans as a lot are not the brightest bulbs on the tree, and most will take this film as gospel because, well, it's shot like a documentary, and gosh, all the reviews say it's so accurate. But the film doesn't address the issues of the ability of cell phones to function at 500 mph, thousands of feet in the air, or debris scattered for miles and miles across the PA countryside. It only explores the mythology, and sets it up as historical fact.

Again, maybe it's a good film. But maybe it's also a totally bogus piece of passive propaganda, which will only serve to stop Americans from asking questions, and be used by those seeking tens of millions of dollars in government money we DON'T HAVE to convince lawmakers to buy 1200 acres of PA countryside for a memorial.

I'll watch it on cable, but unlike Roper and Ebert and every other film critic out there, I hardly think its "unmissable." Just watch me miss it faster than you can say "Let's roll!"

I think it would be fine for boys like that. I was surprised at the lack of blood and guts, but that did not detract from this incredible film. You did hear one of the hijackers necks snap if I recall correctly.

Saw it this afternoon - thought the guy was Belgian for some reason.

It was worth seeing. I go to very few movies, but was determined to see this as soon as possible.

May God comfort the families and friends of those killed or injured, as well as the many who worked in air traffic control that day.

I saw it at Times Square in New York at the 1:30 pm showing. The ticket taker said that the movie "was getting a bigger crowd than is normal for that time of day."

There were about 50 people....mostly men. Surprised to see a lot of them in their 20's.

It felt more like a documentary, with a real you -are -there immediacy to it. The movie itself feels like a missile. I don't know how the director was able to recreate the assault on the cockpit by the passengers the way he did,but I have never seen such collective rage and determination in any movie scene as I did here. I got the sense that for the actors, the scene brought out the fierce "Don't mess with us " patriotism that Americans had on that day...Sadly, almost impossible to find in New York City these days. Everyone's just ragging on Bush.

There were three television crews when I left the theater asking people for their opinions of the movie... I spoke to a Japanese television crew and told them that I thought every New Yorker should see this. I also said that I had friends who lived here who had never been to Ground Zero, which seemed to surprise them.
