What's funny about that lamebrain argument by the open borders crowd, is that if ILLEGALS are legalized, employers would have to pay them at least the minimum wage and the associated payroll/other taxes. Hence, prices of goods and services now produced by ILLEGAL aliens would go up.

If ILLEGAL aliens are removed from society, employers would have to pay an American worker at least the minimum wage and the associated payroll/other taxes. Hence, the price of the same goods and services would go up.

Given the choice, I prefer the jobs go to Americans first. No brainer.

Wow...Fred, you must be a Founding Father

Eric (poster No. 3 - who posts infrequently) has the most seniority under the current system/incarnation of FR. Well, JR (Poster No. 1) has more than Eric. Fred is poster No. 403. I'm so far up in the numbers at poster No. 18,066 that assigning anything that resembles "seniority" to me is a farce.

Is he trying to say that one of his state's fine cities, Yuma Arizona, is such a hell hole that nobody (but illegal aliens) would live there even if they were making $100,000 a year picking lettuce?

I tell you, with a personal cooler and an Ipod, I'd be more than happy to pick lettuce all day for $2000 per week. My wife and I could both do it and we'd net out at $208,000 per year.

I've been to Yuma. Someone needs to tell McCain that it ain't that bad of a place.

Called.

Told them that I picked berries for 5 cents a quart years ago and volunteered me, wife, and daughter. They said they'd call back. Will keep you posted.

This is a bad joke in an effort to defend bad policy.

It didn't work. It's not funny.

Heck, you don't even have to do it for a year. He said "for a season". He also said, of course, "you can't do it", as if Americans couldn't do the job and we need the illegals to do it for us.

Wonder if I'd qualify?

Nope. you are a bona fide American.

I laughed when I saw the video of McCain saying that in front of an audience of workers.

It struck me for the first time, that he is truly WAY, WAY out of touch with America.

I know of few jobs that Americans would not do for 50 bucks an hour.

What's funny about that lamebrain argument by the open borders crowd, is that if ILLEGALS are legalized, employers would have to pay them at least the minimum wage and the associated payroll/other taxes.

And then a whole new wave of illegals would come in to undercut the wages of those newly-legalized illegals, who would end up unemployed. But that's OK because, being legal, they could then draw unemployment benefits.

And then we'd have to set about legalizing the newly-arrived illegals and . . . .
