Lettuce is a winter crop. Weather is awesome in Yuma then.
Lettuce if grown outside is a cool weather crop. I don't think it does well in 117 degree temps.

Two of my kids were born in Yuma. We lived there 21 years last time and since my dad was in the military, I've done four different tours there.
It's really hot, and the snowbirds come as a whole army in the winter. But it's got the greatest Mexican restaurants anywhere, little family owned places. We take ice chests and stock up with food to bring back during our trips over there.
It's a Republican town too.
