Post your observations here.
Richard Miniter was on FNC and said that even if an employee is caught on videotape stealing from their employers, they cannot be fired.
I believe that Sarkozy issued instructions to the cops telling them that their first priority is to protect the demonstrators.
These demonstrations are perceived to be essentially a "student" show with unions joining in and "banlieue youth" (Moslems) trying to turn a legitimate demonstration violent.
The French are insanely sentimental about "students." There is almost a cult of education in France and most people seem to buy into it. If you graduate from the right schools, your education is so respected that you are guaranteed a top leadership job in government or business for life, even if you are ineffective. It is a bit like becoming part of the nobility.
Here's a good book by Michael Davies on the Catholic resistance to the Revolution:

Thanks for the info. I've written it down and will look for books on it. Maybe Alibris will have something. I can usually find just about anything there.
There were good people in the resistance too. But they're gone now.
My observation? I think parts of this proposed law they are "protesting" are needed in France, but the application just to younger workers is obscene. Why should older workers receive extra protection? France has high unemployment partly because the law makes it difficult to get rid of employees, thus providing a disincentive to hire. The older generation is the one that put those rules in place, and now they are looking to correct it, but by applying totally different rules to younger generations.
All workers should be covered equally - no age bias should be allowed (either for or against older/younger workers)....
Yes of course.

Kind of like Harvard, Yale, Princeton, etc.....
Yeah, I asked somebody to photoshop the Heineken guy into that picture and debg was kind enough to do it. LOL!!
ROFLLLLL!!
I'd say it's safe to use the "R" word.
yup , I recall some wordplay my dear friend said yrsAgo
" those burntOut commutators , are going home , ...
to rest in their armatures"
[commutator = commuter]
[armature = armchair]
Good grief. Is that a parody?!
France is just reaping the seeds of socialism it sowed long ago.
Precisely!
There's a special vocabulary used in all the media reports/captions: "Youths" means Muslim thugs from the suburbs (read slums); "Students" or "Protestors" means native French upper class whiners. Once you know that vocabulary, you can begin to make sense of what you see and read. The Youths prey upon the Students. The Students whine about the Government.
Demanding socialists can never be satisfied.
He should add Sean Penn inside the shopping cart with his little red dixie cup... hehe
Are there any French people registered on free Republic? Is this allowed?
The French are insanely sentimental about "students."
