"There's a battle looming over your right to take a gun to work."

You have no right to take anything to work they don't want you to have. Pretty stupid "battle".

Yes, but not if you work for the postal service.

Logical extension of the Castle Doctrine. I own my car. My employer can have no legal say as to it's contents. Also, I have a Right to carry my firearm while in my car to and from work. Giving my employer the legal authority to ban my gun from my car strips me of the ability to effectively provide for my own defense while commuting.

Allowing me to keep my gun in my car in no way infringes on the employers equal rights of property in their ownership of the parking lot or buildings. They own everything from the tar down, I own everything from the tires up.

"This group disagrees with King, saying there are other problems with leaving a gun in a car.

"The reason being no vehicle is safe. No matter what kind of deterrents you use to keep your car from being stolen, it can still be stolen," said Garza.

ConocoPhillips is one of several companies asking an Oklahoma judge to clear the way for employers to prevent workers from keeping pistols in the parking lot. "

Any company that has enough control over their parking lot to tell you what you can have in your car, should be able to offer some security for the lot.

If your employer bans firearms from the workplace, then you either have to live with his rules or quit and get a job elsewhere.

You don't have a right to bring anything on to another's property without their consent.

"businesses have the right to keep concealed weapons out of buildings."

Their business, their choice...

...And no house is safe from burglary, therefore people should have to leave their guns for safekeeping with the police and leave them there, because somebody might take it from them if they ever have it in their possesion.

See how easy this is?

My 2c.....if you bring a gun to work and keep your mouth shut, no one will be the wiser.

If you're forced to use it, then there will be far larger issues to deal with, than disobeying a corporate rule.

Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

"The company says it, "supports the second amendment and the rights of law abiding citizens to own guns"."

No it doesnt and I don't support them.

I deal with local mom and pop stores and avoid conoco like the plague.

I'm a supervisor in a typical government office that deals with the public. I supervise typical (un)civil servants. Most of them are women in a permanent state of PMS. They can (and do) fly off the handle if I look at them cross-eyed.

The last thing I want is for them to have a loaded pistol in the trunk of their car.

If they have to drive all the way home to get their gun to blow my brains out - at least they have a chance to cool off on the drive home.

If all they have to do is run out to the parking lot to get the loaded gun - I'm a goner.

Not allowed to here, glad I'm near a window on the ground floor... If TSHTF, that window is getting a monitor through it and I'm outta here.

If employers only want criminals to have firearms at their place of business, who are we to stop them?

My car is an extension of my homestead; there should be no problem with my keeping a gun there, no matter where it's parked.

The most secure place to keep my firearm is my holster concealed on my person. Dam leaving it lonely in my car.

Having your gun in your car aside, I have an issue about not being able to defend myself whereever I go, including work.

Yes, I understand it's someone else's business, property, etc. But having been attacked and almost put six under while working, I want to know who's responsible for my safety if I'm not allowed to be. Sure as heck isn't LEO...

The owner of a property has the right to exclude weapons from his property.
However, if does this, he should be liable for criminal acts against people on his property.

If only they had put a sign in front of the Murrah Building in Oklahoma City saying, "Absolutely no Ryder trucks filled with fertilizer bombs allowed"!
