Michelle Malkin: WELCOME TO RECONQUISTA!

WELCOME TO RECONQUISTA
***scroll for updates...Bush warns against stoking anti-immigrant feelings. Wants a "civil debate." Video here...Ok. Tell that to the divisive militants below...***

As Mickey Kaus points out, the reporters at the Los Angeles Times (and all other major media, for that matter) have downplayed the radical ethnic separatism that characterized the pro-illegal immigration rallies over the weekend. While the Times misleadingly asserted that the Los Angeles rally "featured more American flags than those from any other country," its reporters conveniently ignored marchers with extremist signs and banners advocating America-undermining concepts of reconquista and Aztlan:

aztlan002.jpg

aztlan003.jpg

aztlan005.jpg

aztlan006.jpg

And does anyone remember this billboard from last year?

losangelesmex.jpg

These sentiments, as I've noted before, are not limited to ethnic fringe groups--but also mainstream Democrat politicians and campus chapters of the Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan, or MEChA.

Most of the members of the open-borders media won't dare breathe a word about this militant phenomenon, lest they be accused of...racism. Oh, the irony.

Welcome to reconquista.

Where are all the assimilationists now?

Can you image the uproar over someone holding up a sign that read "White is Beautiful?"

Tammy Bruce noted on FOX News this morning that American flags were burned at the LA rally and marchers also held signs of the North American continent with America x'ed out.

Who's organizing the illegal alien rallies? Lonewacko investigates the role of a former Mexican consul in Georgia.

Mark Krikorian sees something I've been noting myself lately--an analogy between the reconquista movement in the U.S. and Europe's dhimmification.

Another similarity between the reconquistas and the jihadists: hatred of Jews--and people married to Jews.

They don't want to concede that they lost the war and the land.

And they don't want to admit that Mexico is a disaster despite being full of Mexicans.

"Unfortunately, I predict a racial CIVIL WAR in this country within 10 years; not between whites and blacks, but between those who speak Spanish and those who don't."

Nope. I predict the Federal government will enter in on the side of the invaders. After a few incidents of 'maintaining the peace', the war is over.

I see on Fox online that the Senate Judiciary Committee has "passed" an immigration reform bill that will be debated by the full Senate. With the backdrop of thousands of "immigrant supporters" (a ridiculous distortion of reality if ever there was one) protesting (!) the enactment of any laws that might remotely solve the problem of 11 million illegals (and probably more) draining U.S. taxpayers by the billions, and after what Fox called "eight hours of seemingly endless debate," what they passed seems to me like watered down and useless clap-trap.

Fox reports:

"In Washington, 100 demonstrators wore handcuffs at the Capitol to protest a bill that would make it a felony to be in this country illegally and would make it crime to dispense aid to the nation's 11 million illegal immigrants."

"Immigrant supporters also object to legislation that would also impose new penalties on employers who hire illegal immigrants and would build fences along part of the U.S.-Mexican border."

And, further...

"On Monday, demonstrators on Capitol Hill urged the Senate to reject new get-tough measures on illegal aliens. They scored two victories. The committee rejected a House move to change illegal border crossings from a misdemeanor to a felony.

"The committee also moved to protect churches and charities from House language that protesters feared could lead to the arrest of Samaritans who help illegal aliens."

And finally...

"In Washington, the Senate Judiciary Committee approved legislation that clears the way for millions of undocumented workers to seek U.S. citizenship without having to first leave the country.

"The committee also voted to strip out proposed criminal penalties for residents found to be in this country illegally, clearing the way for the full Senate to begin debate Tuesday."

In my opinion, our "leaders," using the term quite loosely, in conceding such key points to apparent mobs, are letting this country, and all patriotic AMERICANS, down, and unconscionably so. If the United States of America, awash in illegal aliens and fighting a war against terrorists whose very business is to violate borders and perpetrate murder, cannot pass appropriately strict legislation, with teeth in it, and act decisively to ensure the most basic security considerations of its people, preserve our national sovereignty and secure our way of life, I fear the that the seeds of poison, sown so carefully for 4 decades by the left, have finally weakened America beyond repair. A nation, so paralyzed by politially-correct, leftist mind mish-mash so as to be incapable of defending itself, cannot, as history goes, long endure. I pray the weak-minded appeasers in our government are refuted by stronger and more sound leaders who will defend this nation from both foreign and domestic enemies.

Was your reply meant for me? All I suggested is we give New Orleans to the French Canadians. I don't know where you are located but I am pretty acclimated to hearing loud Mexican music on the weekends down here in NM and TX. I'm a bit too old to try and learn any more than the little Spanish I now know so I hope you are wrong about ten years. History teaches us you are probably right about an oncoming culture change but the time and method by which it will occur probably remains uncertain.

Illegals have less company and supporters than they think and with those signs, they have have even less.

They want Arizona, New Mexico and Texas, too.. probably all the way to Canada the way they seem to think these days.

Maybe if we speed their way to Canada, they'll forget the Azlan stuff.

Two words for ya babe : Santa Ana - he really f'ed things up for the Mexicans didnt he?

Three more words for you : Eighteen-forty-seven.

That dont ring a bell? Too bad - that argument was settled a long time ago. The Mexicans should have put a bit more effort into it.

A sign of laziness that they dont want to do anything with what they DO have and try to despoil what they don't. We've all seen what theyve done with what they've managed to keep...is it any wonder that we aren't impressed with their efforts to steal what they dont understand.

Dane's an expert on the border, from his/her perch in Pennsylvania. It's a shame Dane isn't out here in LA to march with the reconquistas- he could carry a Mexican flag, or maybe a Revolutionary Communist Party banner. You know, get down with the homies.

The illegal aliens and the criminals who hire them and the criminals who harbor them are getting out in the street making their desires known. It is way past time those of us who support the rule of law and secure borders did the same.

Join Veterans for Secure Borders, The Minuteman Project, Latino Americans for Immigration Reform, Mothers Against Illegal Aliens, and other groups protesting amnesty for these criminals, and demanding the government protect our borders.

FReepers should be at this rally in strength. Saturday, May 6, in Crawford, TX.

The real number is probably between 20 to 30 million illegals.

"And they don't want to admit that Mexico is a disaster despite being full of Mexicans."

Only the rich survive in Mexico. The poor are left to their own devices.

Remember when Jeep Grand Cherokees kept getting stolen in San Diego. The federales were driving them in Mexico...and they wouldn't give them back.

Great civilization? Was it great how Muslims slaughtered their way across Asia?

Spain is in Europe, friend, not Asia.

The al-andalus stage was founded by the Umayyad dynasty. It was indeed a golden period for them and for medieval Spain.

If you want to criticize your enemy, do it from a platform of facts, not emotion. Else, you become just like the nutjobs over in the middle-east now.
