I grew up in a time when two-parent families were still the norm, in both black and white America. Then, as an adult, I saw divorce become more commonplace, then almost a rite of passage. Today it would appear that many -- particularly in the black community -- have dispensed with marriage altogether.
But as a black woman, I have witnessed the outrage of girlfriends when the ex failed to show up for his weekend with the kids, and I've seen the disappointment of children who missed having a dad around. Having enjoyed a close relationship with my own father, I made a conscious decision that I wanted a husband, not a live-in boyfriend and not a "baby's daddy," when it came my time to mate and marry. My time never came. For years, I wondered why not. And then some 12-year-olds enlightened me.
"Marriage is for white people."
That's what one of my students told me some years back when I taught a career exploration class for sixth-graders at an elementary school in Southeast Washington. I was pleasantly surprised when the boys in the class stated that being a good father was a very important goal to them, more meaningful than making money or having a fancy title.
"That's wonderful!" I told my class. "I think I'll invite some couples in to talk about being married and rearing children."
"Oh, no," objected one student. "We're not interested in the part about marriage. Only about how to be good fathers."
And that's when the other boy chimed in, speaking as if the words left a nasty taste in his mouth: "Marriage is for white people."

You said -- "imho within two generations there would be a major turnaround in the black "underclass" if this policy were "adopted". :-)"
Yeah, in two generations the gay population will have all the babies that they need...

The trend is changing and I see a lot of white girls having children and not marrying the father. They seem to be lowering their expectations like black women have been doing for decades. I call it the bastardization of America.
This article says it all about people who won't achieve success because they're so misguided.
I have a brother with a 12 yr old son, and he's very involved with helping out with soccer practice. He spends a lot of time with the boy, who is a great kid.
BTTT
Very interesting...
Dc kids are racist
So to summarize the boy who said, 'Marriage Is for White People'
We don't want to do anything that makes them successful. We just want reparations.
Like staying out of jail and making good grades.
The statements are not the same but they are complementary. Who says A must say B and all that.
It would be naive to believe that this is an accident. The family is the basic building block of society, if you destroy the family you have only individuals to worry about (from a leaders perspective).
Top down authority is then umchallenged by any cohesive organic unit.
BTW, it's also the rational behind the attack on Christianity, the promotion of Gay sex, and of course; abortion.
We now have the "right" to bust a nut anywhere, anyhow, and anywhen we want, but freedom of speech: that needs strict regualtion, you have to register w/ the authorities for permission first.
The war against Genesis...
The author points out that marriage among blacks was more prevalent during slavery and immediately afterward than it is today -- due to the commencement of a decline in Black marriage rates commencing in the 1960's. Sad but true, and reminds us all of the eveil effect of Sixties counterculture and liberal politics and policies. Perhaps reparations aren't justified after all.

The war against Genesis...
"Bush's fault, no doubt."
Isn't this automatic response to everything getting a little shopworn?
Bump
That's exactly as I see it! LBJ did great disservice to America that most Americans don't see (or refuse to acknowledge)...
"The article states there is a problem. What is the solution?"
Do you take this man/woman........?
You said -- "After listening to this sales pitch, it is easy to see that Islamic outreach in the United States is targeting this segment of the population. "
They need their baby factories. It looks like they're getting them.

Since that was their intent I guess they were successful.
