Friends of U.S. peace activist Tom Fox, who was kidnapped and killed in Iraq, cited his stance against retribution on Saturday and called for the remembrance of all victims of violence around the world.
Members of the Langley Hill Friends Meeting, a peace group in northern Virginia to which Fox belonged, read a statement he co-wrote in October 2004 in which he shunned violence, even to rescue him should he ever be kidnapped.
"We reject violence to punish anyone who harms us," said Doug Smith, quoting Fox, in a statement read to reporters at the group's headquarters in McLean, Virginia.
"We forgive those who consider us their enemies," Fox's statement continued

Well alrighty, then. Case Closed. It's Time to MoveOn.org.
However, we can mete out retribution to the perpetrators for other terrorist acts that they have committed, and we still get a happy ending.

Trying to teach these people is an exercise in futility. Its like trying to teach a mule to sing. My goofy parents decided to become Quakers back on the 60's. I was switched to a quaker school and every attempt was made to thoroughly indoctrinate me at home and at school (along with all the other kids).
This is/was their idea of a well rounded education. civil and constitution law 3hours a day, 3 days a week from grade 5. Modern dance and Shakespeare. Hiking 2x per month (weather permitting) and field trips to every "peace" demonstration in driving distance. Oh and 2-3 camping 2 week camping trips per year. Sex Ed. was one the curriculum as well, in the form of the elderly Quaker Principle, John Way, reading us passages from dime store detective novels. I could barely count on my fingers or speel my way through a book of matches when I came out of there.............but I was very well trained to be a little booter moonbat and parrot all the propaganda.
And People wonder why I am so critical of the AFSC/Quaker and moombats in general. I have seen and experienced the damage these people do to society by inflicting their ideology on youth.
They are intellectually dishonest cowardly hypocrites.

I could not agree more. I was raised in an extremely liberal home myself. Raised as a democrat from a very early age I was the perfect young moonbat. I did not know any different. It was only after I was out of my parents home did the real world hit me (and it hit me hard) and I actually began to see things as they were, and not how my parents thought they were.
I can tell you that the mindset has nothing to do with logic and has everything to do with "me me me" It is 100% emotional and has very little to do with facts. It' people who've been for lack of a better word been isolated and taught as their parents were. It's all about me and me feeling good. The other guy doesn't fit in with my world view unless it benefits me. Liberalism is selfishness defined.
I've come to look at liberalism as a mental disease. No one chooses to become that way, but are indoctrinated and brainwashed from youth. I've seen many young ones get out into the real world only to have the liberal idea fall flat on it's face.

civilians who go to war zones and terrorists should be required to sign a binding form, stipulating that they be considered legally dead if ever kidnapped.
Every American civilian knows that if he/she is kidnapped that our government don´t negotiate with terrorists. We go anyway, most of us wanted to do something infighting the war on terrorism or to help the Iraqi people rebuild their country.
I for one, never had any illusions working security details for people involved in rebuilding Iraq that my government would help me if I were kidnapped and neither did any of my team mates. We carried weapons and made up our minds to take as many of the bastards with us as we could.

"Perhaps those who eschew an eye for an eye are at a higher level of incarnation than thee"
You're statement is a little ambiguous..........Are you patting yourself on the back for being some wise and holy being? Or are you saying that Shaun_MD is a believer in "eye for an eye" which is a bad thing, therefore he is bad or atleast unworthy and contemptible in your "higher being" eyes?
Have you studied the Badgadavita much? Since your post is not real clear on that, I wonder if your grasp of Karma is maybe a little shaky too?
Its pretty clear that you haven't a clue to the meaning of "eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth". Why don't you spend a little time studying the word of God? You might still not like it, but at least you'd know.

I think the only reason I escaped being one of them was I was basically too independent in my thinking and not given to the whole kumbaya balogna. They kicked me out just before I graduated out of the 8th grade. Thank the Lord for that. I would have had to go to Grass Valley and then Argenta...........I might have been truly one of them. Don't like to think about that...
By the way, you never saw such a bunch of screwed up families and kids those oh so aware and progressive Gandhi wannabe had. We're talking serious inability to function even in the 5th grade. And ya know, it just never seemed to register to the parents that anything was wrong. I'm talking alcoholics, small animal abusers/killers, sexual promiscuity........and this is middle school age! Then there was just those who just ceased to comunicate or interact with anyone around them and became very hostile when forced too......(that was me).
I'm well educated now.........by my own efforts, conservative (by nature) and saved by the grace of God.

You'll learn something about me real quick. I don't usually repond to baiting or the tactics you seem to use in your posts. I will however this time give you the benefit of the doubt. Your post strikes me as arrogant and elitist. It also makes very little sense.
Turning the other cheek and loving your enemy are very noble ideas. Read the Bible like Silver Charm told you.
Those ideas assume that you can personally reach an understanding with your enemy and living your life by example, you can change your enemy's heart. But what if that understanding can't be reached?

hello, I think that an eye for an eye etc in a very literal sense is pretty scary and unfortunately that's the way alot of people take it...........
But from what I've learned from my studies of scripture (and I've only been a Christian for 2 1/2 years) is this:
And eye for an eye means that unjust and harsh penalties that do not fit the crime are against the law. For instance, if a man causes another man to lose his eye (for instance) the man is entitled to fare compensation. The victim cannot go slaughter the other persons family. It all about making the punishment fit the crime.
What do you think? Is that what you've come to understand it to mean? Also, although Jesus was the sacrifice that fulfilled the requirement for sin sacrifice, he stated that he did not come to change or abolish the law but uphold it.
Matthew is an inspirational book. My favorite(s) are Romans and Ephesians right now.
Blessings
