HAS ANYBODY SAID IT YET? BOYCOTT THE OSCARS (Oscars Live Thread)

I suppose on this thread it goes without saying, but I'll say in anyway...BOYCOTT THE OSCARS tonight.
I want the ratings for this year's program go into the toilet (where most the nominated movies belong). I won't waste my money to see the films, my electricity to watch the Oscars, or my time watching to witness Hollywood's self-adulation fest.
Pass it on...

Since Ben Hur won the chariot race? I didn't know you were that old :-)

I have no plans to watch them. Homosexuality and every other form of perversion are up for awards. Basically, there is NOTHING that I care to see, and NO ONE that I care to see, so I'll abstain. Besides, they have preempted Desperate Housewives. You know, one of the 'outstanding' programs with absolutely no morals on TV today. LOL! It's the best comedy on TV today. ;o)
To: freedom4me
The last time I payed any attention to the Oscars was when Marlon Brando went political on us with the American Indian thing. Been boycotting for years, ever since.

Reason the Oscars Will Suck Like Monica Lewinsky's Hoover this Year.
- The weakest field of choices for Best Picture I've seen in a long time. Maybe ever.
- The PC natures of all the choices.
- The apparent coronation of Brokeback, killing all suspense.
- The blacklisting of Sin City.
- The failure to nominate Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith in 'Best Visual Effects' Whatever you say about that flick and Lucas's behavior, it did merit a nomination in that category.
- Paradise Now.
- Nominating a rap song about 'pimping.'
- John Stewart.
- The nauseating smugness that will radiate from the TV if I DID watch it!

Actually, I think many people will tune in at the onset to hear that low life "Democrat" liberal piece of vermin John Stewart mouth off. After his remarks the audience will drop to the lowest numbers of viewers in the history of the Awards. Me, I'm not watching.
To: freedom4me
I didn't plan on watching anyway. I've got more important things to do, like laundry or clip my toenails.

Well, I wouldn't mind seeing 'Howl's Moving Castle' win too. Actually, the only one I did not see in that category was 'Corpse Bride.' No knock against Tim Burton, but nothing I saw in the ads grabbed me.

I won't be watching either.
Boycott the Oscars, and boycott the offensive vile films.
"BAREBACK" Mountain is offensive.
Worse yet are Syriana, Paradise Now, and Munich which glorify terrorists and present terrorism in a sympathetic light.
These films are morally repugnant, repulsive to free thinking people, and should be boycotted.
Finding artistic merit in films glorifying terrorism and violence, that are so totally anti-semitic is like finding merit in Hitler's propaganda films.

Here, too, no TV. Either gonna watch "Die Hard" or freep. Wow! Great minds!! We just finished watching "Die Hard" 20 minutes ago. As edge-of-your-seat today as it was when we saw it for the first time, nearly 20 years ago. Bruce Willis was hot!

I saw Munich the other day and I left with the impression Spielberg insulted the Mossad.
Only in linguine spine Steven Spielberg's world would the Mossad be a bunch of amateur hacks who can't shoot straight, kill innocent bystanders, and lack the physcological constitution to be an self respecting assassin.
Munich starts out as a pretty good drama, but after 100 of the films 164 minutes it starts sliding and finally ends up in corner as a pile of limp spaghetti.
He should have used a screen writer other than one of Howard Dean's screed writers.

"A formal boycott of the Oscars would be counterproductive - it would draw attention to them. I'm not going to boycott them; I'm just not going to watch them."
They are already being boycotted by the American people.
These films have been seen by very few, and in markets mainly on the coasts. Some have taken in way less than $50 million.... that means people are refusing to pay good money for this garbage and terrorist propaganda.

I noticed the difference during the drug generation. Those writing and producing were in effect drug addicts and/or pushers and it produced a whole generation of "dope-smoking, maggot infested, good-time rock 'n rollers". The garbage Hollywood produced had to be applauded because their egos were too fragile.
That mind-set has continued .. just look at what passes for "music" these days - and it's like nobody is brave enough to stand up in a crowded theater and yell - get this trash off the stage. It's garbage .. except for IL DIVO.

Since the agenda this year is completely obvious, I wonder if a lousy Oscar ratings performance will be somehow covered up, or at least spun, by the Nielsen people -- in the same way MSM polls tend to oversample Democrats. Of course it will. BTW, I used to be Director of Technology for Nielsen Entertainment, in Hollywood.
To: freedom4me
I boycott them every year.
Why would self-respecting person, outside of the motion picture industry, care about a self-congratulating ceremony that confer honors on some of the world's greatest narcissists?
Other than a few jokes perhaps (I've heard a few second hand in the past; there will probably be some brokeback humor this year), the Academy Awards are a complete and pathetic waste of time.

I'm amazed that the network that can no longer afford to show the Green Bay Packers ( Monday Night Football ) in prime time has the money to air a show honoring fudge packers.
