What Is the Greatest Musical Work of All Time?

I was sitting here tonight listening to Mozart's Requiem and I got to thinking: what do I consider to be the best work of music ever? For my part, Mozart's work really does the trick for me when I need to be re-energized. Therefore, I believe that his Requiem is the greatest work of all time. There just isn't another work that is as powerful and passionate. When the chorus sings the final "Amen" at the end of "Lacrimosa" I get the feeling that he knew it was the last thing he would ever write. It gives me chills at times.
Other favorites are:
Handel's Messiah
The 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky

I have heard several of Salieri's overtures, and have to say that there are quite good. He repeats the same theme many times, but the themes are charming and delightful. Salieri gets a bad wrap. Not the calibre of a Mozart, but certainly a gifted composer who deserves to be celibrated for his contributions to the great western musical tradition (not to mention his role as an instructor).

Two of the most beautiful songs ever composed are Pachebel's Canon in D and Bach's Where Sheep May Safely Graze. George F. Handel's Water Music is a lovely suite, as well.

P.S.
Come Together-Spiritualized
Namami Nanda-Nandana and Great Hosanah-Kula Shakar
The Cross / Yellow Hedgerow Dreamscape - Porcupine Tree
None of those are religious music, btw, but prog rock that makes Yes and all that other garbage worthwhile for the pure transcendence of the PT tracks.

Don't know about the greatest - but the worst has to be "These Shoes Are Made for Walkin" by that woman who happened to inherit none of her father's talent.

Lots of Beethoven but no mention of the 6th yet. I'll chime in.

When I was a teenager, I had a grudge against My Girl, because it knocked the Righteous Brothers' You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling--my favorite song at the time--out of the number one slot on the hit parade. The Righteous Brothers' opus had stayed at the top of the charts for nine weeks.

The Gounod-Bach (or Bach-Gounod if you must) Ave Maria. I especially like Vic Damone's 1947 recording of this tune.
