The other night Jimmy Carter popped up on the Larry King show, live via satellite, standing in a ski lodge and wearing a fur-lined outdoorsman jacket as though he'd just come in from felling a spruce.
He was publicizing an upcoming auction in which he would sell the furniture he'd been making.
Also his wine. This may have come to many viewers as a surprise: There is Jimmy Carter Wine.
The former president didn't say how he made it, but you know what it's probably called: peanut noir.
Also he plans to sell his paintings. "My paintings," he told King, "have gotten to be pretty popular."
In fact, he said, one of his paintings had been used as the cover for his recent novel.
George Will recently called Carter "an even worse ex-president than he was a president," a snippety remark that probably reflects Will's jealousy that Carter has more hobbies.
Liberal Democrats, demonstrating characteristic loyalty, tried to oust Carter in favor of Teddy Kennedy.
Carter survived, but fell in the fall election to a sunny, twinkly-eyed former movie star.
Carter hadn't just lost the presidency; in effect he'd been fired.
Answering a call, here comes the most indefatigable man in America: Jimmy Carter, ex-president-for-life.

Hi Emily. Ugh! Carter had a failed presidency, but his post-presidency has been ABOMINABLE. I wish our government would not be so reluctant to bring charges of treason against people like Carter. He is the equal of Benedict Arnold, literally.
I have four unopened cans. They were put aside by my father. It was a six-pack, but over the years, two of the cans proved as shoddy as his presidency and his antics afterward.
If I can not make it to his grave site to pass that beer over it, after passing it over my lips, I shall make an appropiate little shrine to his death and turn it yellow.
My remark had nothing to do with auctioneers.
He's all twinkly-eyed the front page of the NYSlimes, ...wants everyone to buy his books. The NYSlimes seemed to think this was both newsworthy and charming. Out of their minds, just like Jimmy.
Every time Jimmah opens his mouth, another generation becomes aware of how stupid, arrogant and incompetent he is/was.
When he croaks, you may have to stand in line to "pay your respects" on his grave. There may be a few score Iranians ahead of you in the line.
Are you serious. My 3 year old could do better than that. LOL.
You pay big bucks, cash for trash. The auctioneer only gets a small percentage. In theory you can get bribed by selling blank paper, and thouroughly legal.
Case in point, Labor unions buying thousands of copies of very thin books as a payoff to a politician.
I'm not sure hanging is appropriate for that crime any more, but prison certainly is.....
xlinton can be his cellmate.
After reading this book, I believe his Presidency was even worse than was imagined. EVERYTHING he did in office has resonated into what has become our war on terror. I have been literally shocked at how little I knew about it all. I have had a very hard time putting this book down. It is just interesting to see how his policies have done so much damage even now.

Not snippity, just true.
Exactly. But, in this case involving Jimmy Carter suddenly getting involved in art, I would equate my opinion of what he is doing more along the lines of how commercial money laundering works with advertising.
But yes, your article is on the money of how this works.
>>>>Case in point, Labor unions buying thousands of copies of very thin books as a payoff to a politician.
Yup! This is what I thought of when Teddy boy published his new kiddy book.
See my post below. :) I am ashamed to admit I was one of those dunderheads that thought "Well he was an incompetent President but look at all those homes he's helping to build." UGH! Over the last few years I have come to LOATHE what this man is and what he stands for. My disgust began with his collusion in helping the Chinese during Clinton's presidency and my feelings of animosity have grown. They reached their highest when he spoke at Mrs. King's funeral. That is when I checked out this book "The Real Story about Jimmy Carter". I have chills reading it. I had no idea all the damage he had done to our country. God blessed us with Ronald Reagan, because 4 more years of Carter and we would be speaking Russian. Could you imagine? shudder.
LOL. Big boy tools. Carter certainly is a tool.
AMEN! I know my opinion of him has changed drastically over the years. And definately not for the better.
