Sanford/Pawlenty would be my dream ticket. Since they aren't running yet, I am leaning towards McCain. For all his hot air on the Sunday shows, when push comes to shove, McCain votes for conservative judges and has a consistent pro-life vote. I am excite dabout McCain. With the current field we have, it is like picking the tallest dwarf.

I'm not pretending...Stuff happens overnight. Brownback is certainly popular in his state. He is very popular among social conservatives and the pro life community. Time will tell.

Rudy/Newt and I don't care the order or position.
I think we are about to face serious challenges on all fronts, and I want someone who knows he has been there before and has been tested by fire.
If something happened to either one, the other is very strong to step in. I want security and a stop to the Muzzies to be the main topic.

We will NOT have any economy if we don't stop the radicals.
We won't have any schools nor education if we don't stop the radicals.
We won't have gas at any price nor a car to drive nor a job or school to go to if we don't stop the radicals.

They want to kill all who are not Muslim, and they have no compromises in mind.

Santorum is 95% lifetime ACU Conservative. He voted for Roberts and Alito, the latter of whom would not be on the court if Kennedy and Leahy were in the majority.
Santorum voted for tax reductions that helped our economy do very well since 2003, tax reductions the Democrats opposed.

He is running against a Chuckie Schumer-Hillary-supported liberal Democrat.

You dont need sarcasm there ... Swann is all that and is *NOT* the corrupt, socialistic, partisan, power-mongering pol that Ed Rendell is. It wil be accomplishment enough to evict Rendell. But I think Swann is being underestimated here due to assumptions about him as a 'jock'...

Rudy is strong on leadership and on GWOT issues. In fact, I'm sorry Bush didnt tap him to be AG after Ashcroft left.

But there are 2 other pillars of the Republican party:
- social conservatism
- fiscal conservatism

Rudy is simply not a social conservative. I recognize that as NYC mayor he had different social pressures to contend with. but beyond that his personal life may be an issue.

I think if Rudy came out strong, a la Jack Kemp, for tax overhaul or a flat tax, it would stir up the conservative base for him.

Condi Rice is such a huge mistake to tout as President

Maybe in YOUR opinion. All these posts about Pence - 5%, Santorum - 2.6% and McCain - 4.6% are all totally ignoring the fact that Condi is leading the poll at 20%. She is obviously the People's Choice.

Just because she said she doesn't want to run means nothing. Dwight D Eisenhower ALSO insisted he didn't want to run - but he did.

Condi would win if she ran. The only ones who would have a problem with her are the closet racists and closet sexists who would not want to see a black woman in the White House.

If you think the "State Dept." Condi is all there is to this woman - take another look at her background.

No, I do not consider his positions on those issues as conservative, nor am I a supporter of his. Still, in the interest of honesty, I pointed out that he does have a conservative track record overall. His lifetime American Conservative Union rating is 83%, which is fairly conservative. His record on almost all conservative voting record ratings puts him among the more conservative members of the U.S. Senate. I point this out because so many on this site are quite wary of him, but give others with no track record, or a less conservative record a pass. In particular, I was responding to a post that wondered why there was so much support for Condi and so much revulsion for McCain. McCain's personality grates on my nerves and I strongly disagree with the position he has taken on a number of issues lately. That does not stop me from being honest about his record. Again, I bring this up
to raise the question as to why some potential candidates, with a far less conservative record, or none at all, are receiving so much support on this forum.
