Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a Madrid press conference Thursday that Russia is holding talks with Hamas and that he plans on inviting the groups leaders to Moscow soon.
Hamas rose to power in democratic elections and the choice of the Palestinian people must be respected, Putin said.
Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was quick to accept the invitation.
However, a document distributed by the Israeli Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center at the Center for Special Studies reveals that Hamas supports the Chechen rebels in their battle for independence against the Russian regime and considers them part of the global Jihad.
According to the document, Hamas posters, CDs and films depicting the groups support for the Chechens and for global terror in general were found in the territories; Hamas even offered the Chechens its official website to prove the rebels suicide bombings are carried out in accordance with Islamic law.
Moreover, the anti-Russian CDs, filled with messages preaching for hatred and terror, are being distributed by Hamas in Palestinian Authority educational institutions. The document analyzes a number of CDs that included inciting material dealing with Chechnya and were distributed in the American university in Jenin in November 2003 and in Hebron in 2004.
Violent message
The document states that the terminology used by Hamas in the posters and films is Islamist-extremist in nature; Chechen terror leaders are praised while the Russian armys conduct is described as terrorism against the Muslim population in Chechnya.
For instance, one of the CDs, titled Russian Hell, contains derogatory comments against the Russian soldiers, such as Fire awaits them in the next world, and the Chechens in this world.
In addition, the CD hails the Chechens as Jihad warriors.
A Hamas poster shows the organizations founder, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin alongside Osama Bin Laden and Chechen rebel leaders Shamil Basayev, who is known to be one of those behind the Beslan school massacre in September 2004, and Khattab, killed by the Russians in 2002.
A slogan at the bottom of the poster reads Islam was born in foreign surroundings and will continue to exist in these surroundings (meaning, Islam will continue to exist in those places where Muslims are the minority.)
The poster also includes images of two M-16 rifles below the leaders.
This is clearly a violent message in which Hamas diverts from its Islamic-Palestinian identity and encourages international Islamic terror, the Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center document states.
I am sure he knows. Putin and Bush are playing Good Cop Bad Cop with the arabs.
When Putin says Hamas must change he means he wants them to stop all that counterproductive suicide bombing and kill jews with Iranian IED's instead.
So....Putin supports the Chechens???!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He will support anyone if only he can keep the power in Russia. Hamas, Chechens, Soros, Satan, whoever. I think he is readying to become the Emir of the Slavonic Muslim Provinves. When Chechens together with Hamas take over Russia this is the most he can hope for.
There is information that says that the Chechen rebels are funded by the FSB and SVR. It is sketchy, but could hold true.

Putin supports Hamas that supports Chechen fighters killing Russians ping!
They should put at the doors of every such... hm, hm, 'institution' a warning sign that already exists at their maternity wards:
ATTENTION! LIVE AMMUNITION!
Wahhabism or no wahhabism, even in 1920 the Chechens fought under the green banner of the prophet (the one that features in those Danish cartoons, you know...).
Their then leader Shamil definitely used all the Islamic rhetoric of martyrdom and the rest of the sh*t.
Sorry for the typo - 1820 that is.
I am not sure they do it directly, but what is certain is that the army generals deal big time in arms and ammunition with the Chechens.
The whole war is a big business: you bomb a city into rubble, then the central government says "Chechnya is part of Russia, we must reconstruct the place for the population's sake" and signs huge funds for the purpose.
These funds are stolen by the officials (and lion's share of them finds its way to the Swiss accounts of the main actors), then the "rebels" duly perform another terrorist act which is replied to by another bombing... so all the traces of the theft are well covered by the rubble.
Isn't it a nice, flawless scheme?
Well, at the time they did not have any other banners. The conflict, through most of its history till its most recent phase, had been 200% local - that's the point, and not the color of the banners. Neither in 1820-60, nor around 1920, nor in 1940s did anyone there dream of the world caliphate - what they wanted was to return to their old tribal ways, without NKVD, CheKa, or Russian vampirial military outposts. BTW, to suppress them even in 19th century it was necessary to resort to ecological warfare - cutting and burning mountain forests, wasting their small agricultural fields etc. Mountain tribes have long memories, and after all that has been done there, this conflict does not have nongenocidal solution, unless the putinoids withdraw and wall off the Chechnya with minefield belts.
The Chechen rebels are supported by the SVR and FSB.
They could do that, but it'd be genocidal too, since without Russia the Chechens have no economy to speak about.
Fortunately (or, indeed, unfortunately) Chechens don't really want to cut all their ties with Russia. For instance, they're quite happy to continue their criminal business in the major Russian cities... all this 'national liberation' rhetoric is quite hypocritical.
How they manage to stew in their own juices would be nobody's business but their own. And if the place is walled off, it would be only natural to expect that the diasporic ones would be carted in, and dumped in there.
