Thank you , Star.
Long ago when I went to the UH as a returning vet, nearly all my profs and most classmates hated Nixon, ignored Ford and adored Carter (even though they had to wait in gas lines two blocks long). They were friendly enough but treated vets as ticking time bombs or brain dead monkeys.
By 1975, with the fall of the Republic of Viet Nam, they became insufferable, vindictive and fey. These were my college years.
Ronald Reagan took the Presidency January 20, 1981 and said, "It's morning in America". I was skeptical but he was right. As America rose again from the Carter malaise, I learned the most valuable life lesson, optimism.
Thank you, President Reagan

how did Nana fare over the rest of Saturday and then Sunday? The weekend was like March...in like a lion and out like a lamb. Well, almost. I think we got the pain thing licked, except for maybe an hour each day. Doc prescribed Demerol this afternoon...she can't take it, so she sent him back to the drawing board. We'll see what he says next.
Nana is improving with each set of exercises, and I think she's doing great at the end of the first week. I keep reminding her she just is a week out of surgery, and she keeps throwing pillows at me!
We had company this evening, so that brought her spirits up. Tomorrow I take her in for some blood work to verify the coumadin dosage, and she see's the doc next Monday to set up PT and an appointment to have the staples removed.

If she's throwing pillows at you, she's gonna be okay! LOL!
Help her to recall where she was after a week last time. She seems to be much better this time...or am I completely off base?

No, you're right. She's much better now, comparatively. Last year this time, she was back in the hospital with a clot.
The pain is real towards the eleventh hour...no getting around it...but she is making great progress and she knows it. It's just tearing me up to see her hurt...it'll be okay soon, I know...just tough now.

I know sweetie...it always hurts the one that is the care-giver...especially when you can't make the pain go away.

What? You're too cheap to buy a staple remover? ;)
Seriously! Glad she's doing so well. (Keep dodging the pillows. It's good exercise!)
