Good morning, all.
Join us today for the final victory lap, the vote to "confirm Samuel Alito, of New Jersey, to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court."
It's all over except the final vote tally.
Lots of surprises yesterday at the HUGE vote to impose cloture, so perhaps there are still some surprise votes to come?

I suspect Miss Sandra will be sitting with Mrs. Bush this evening so the President can offer a tribute.
Not sorry she doesn't get to walk in with the rest of the supremes tonight.

Seems Joe has an opponent who has plastered the state with bumper stickers saying goodbye to Joe.

"IIRC, these instances account for less than 1% of all abortions that are currently performed in the US"
Precisely. Rape and incest are just red herrings used by the pro-abortion crowd. The vast majority of the killings are for convenience - belated attempts at birth control.

I live in NY and am stuck with him and Shrillary.
As for the new Justice, it's a shame he can't be sworn in today, but I do hope he'll be sitting with the First Lady tonight. That would be sweet. :-)

I don't know. There are threatened splits in both parties. Alito helped us significantly, and hurt them badly. How it affects the politics on the ground is really hard to predict imo.
The non-political people I know are actually quite mystified by this whole fight. They like Alito. They think he has a nice family. He isn't frightening. Beyond that they are basically apathetic.
In any case, I like these kinds of political landscape shattering moments, especially when they break our way. The consequences of today will be fun to watch as they unfold.
