I hate to say it because, undoubtedly, someone will take it the wrong way, but I honestly think this is a great outcome for the future of Israel and the Palestinian People. This could be the move that will bring peace to the region...

I really don't agree with you. If Hamas fails they will not let anyone else succeed. It will take a generation of fortitude to stand up to these people...as the terrorism and havoc they reek on their own kind will be horrendous.

Look at the photos of the armed gunmen at those polling booths.

Read the article and don't agree. If the Palestinian people had ever shown any ability to think, they would have, long ago, struck a deal for their own independent state. Instead, they have repeatedly supported and rallied to terror and terrorist leaders. They are so stupid that they actually believe that terror bombings will drive Israel into the sea. Of course, they are supported in that foolishness by such as the leaders of Hamas and even the president of Iran. The Palestinian people will be swindled into the loss of their own blood again and again, because they are so incredibly stupid and so desperately hate-filled. For the rest of us, it might be wise to consider the following: when someone tells you, by his words and actions, who he is, it might be a good idea to believe him.

They'll figure out a way to blame Israel for their problems.

Totalitarian regiemes from Hitler to Stalin, Pol Pot, Castro, et al have just fine at "ruling", aka staying in power. As have Islamic regiemes. The mullahs are still in Iran, Sudan is doing just fine, and the Taliban was deposed by the US, not the local population. That aside, Hamas will likely govern as well as Fatah, though they'll begin enacting sharia.

Palestinians will only be happy with one thing...the destruction of Israel.

One of the biggest problems in dealing with the PLO / PA in recent times is that they were not the perpetrators of most of the attacks on Israel. Since other forces were doers of the evil deeds, the PA could sit back and say "we are working with them". No one ever held the PA to results. As long as they condemned the bombings and attacks they were heralded as "peace partners"

That era is over.

Now that Hamas is the government they are in a serious bind. Any attack by Hamas is now an official act of war, especially given their party platform of wiping out Israel.

They will not be able to make vauge threats behind their masks.

They will have to formally declare if they are for or against the "roadmap" for peace.

This puts the Euros in a big bind as well. For years they have been able to say the PA was a peace partner in the middle east even while Hamas blew up pizza parlors and salons throughout Israel. They then blamed the attacks on Israel not following the peace process. Now the stated goal of the "Palestinian Government" is to wipe Israel off the map, pie in the sky though it may be. Can the Euros seriously continue to equate the two sides when one is dismantling and withdrawing while the other continues with its bellicose rhetoric?

Things just got really interesting in the Middle East. I can't wait to kick my feet up with some freshly microwaved popcorn and watch the fireworks.

Let's assume that they do drive the Jews into the sea. There isn't going to be anyting left in Isreal worth having. Scorched Earth.

I agree with your analysis. Hamas IMO was not prepared to govern but wanted to remain in the shadows to be a thorn in the side of the Fatah Party.

There won't be anything left in the Arab capitals either.

Arafat's failure took decades. Anyone willing to take another few decades to experimentwith Hamas is either nuts, or they have a death wish.

I agree with her. The honeymoon will last until the first paychecks come due. Feeding a few people, building an occasional school, is not the same as running a country, providing for a nation, attracting jobs, actually providing a future for a whole nation.

Is it going to be ugly? You bet. Is it going to be dangerous? No doubt. But it's the ONLY way to a full solution.

For decades, despots and tyrants have used these guys (Hamas, Hizbollah, Muslim Brotherhood, etc.) to blackmail the rest of the world. OK, now they have their chance. Let them try to run a country and see what happens and how happy the people are with the results.

They have no experience governing. They don't know what it takes and they'll undoubtedly fail, just like their terrorist predecessor, Yassir Arafat, failed. Convincing poor, downtrodden young men who have no future before them (mainly because of Hamas' actions) to convince themselves to blow up is nothing compared to actually having to govern.

I believe the author misses the point of Islam. It's not about worldly things it's about doing on this earth what God (Allah) wants done. And obtaining paradise. (killing Jews and other Infidels is on the agenda)- Tom

YES!! Of course, Europa's thumb will be one of the scales.

My take on this is Hamas will find that they cannot do terrorist strikes and claim it was another faction that did it beyond its control.

Fatah, cannot let Hamas succeed so any time that Hamas may look like getting the peace process going Fatah will do the homocide bomber routine or the attack on the public driving down the road with AK47's

But, Hamas wont know the pitfalls that Fatah has learned and will make an act of war.

Israel will clean their clocks. Its just on a faster time scale and done more inept by the Hamas leadership.
