Debate continues in the Senate today on the nomination of Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court. At present no time has been announced for a final vote. Stop by and discuss.
He's playing some kind of game with not giving details
Reid didn't roll Frist..he wants another try.
The man from Specter sounds like he has a backbone. We'll see.
DEBATE OR VOTE! DEBATE OR VOTE!!
New mantra of the Republican senators. :-)
How about Biden? Is he still overseeing Palestinian elections?
what a car fight!!
I think Specter just gave in. Debate or vote. But I've made my point.
WTH??
Oh Arlen, I am LOL at the low blood sugar moment!
Reid says there may be an agreement later today. Better, says Reid, that Frist deal with Reid directly, rather than through Specter. Specter is pressing for an idea about when the DEMs will be ready to vote.
Plenty of time to file a cloture motion - that can come tomorrow, if necessary. The point is "debate or vote" -- ahhh, Specter admits that the only way he can enforce that is via cloture.
LOL - good joke by Specter.
Why are they over seas???
They knew WELL IN ADVANCE about this debate
Sounds like they are pulling the same stunt the Texas Dems did a couple years back
Sen Richard Burr. Yes for Alito.
It was never planned or anticipated to happen this week. Too many Senators out of the country.
Yes, but that is their key Liberal constituency. NARAL/pro-abortion/Courts trump WOT & even Bush. Doing so on this issue is effectively declaring Independence.
The War/Bush is second tier.
Unions have fallen a great deal down the list.
Burr's State? Party?
"Well senator, you've never been to a Republican conference"
Yes...Reid just TRIED to slap down Specter by saying that he wouldn't discuss it now...and would wait and talk to the Majority Leader...ouch...
I think Specter might have just walked off...until that moment...and he didn't like being "dissed" by Reid...
Reid sure didn't seem his "cocky, snarky" self today, did he??
NC, R
So no vote today? Shoot. Guess we'll just have to wait a few more days for the inevitable.
They ought to have their salaries withheld until they come back to work.
"they are pulling the same stunt the Texas Dems did a couple years back!"
So call for a quorum and then vote!....Don't we have enough to get one?
