Debate continues in the Senate today on the nomination of Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court. At present no time has been announced for a final vote. Stop by and discuss.
I have always liked Trent Lott.
Understand that his home in Miss. was wiped out by Katrina.
Still doing a great job representing his state and the Republican Party
"People are listening to what we say..."
Hey, Trent's talking about US! :-)
(waves hi madly at Trent)
A very gracious statement about Senator Specter, who I have to agree has done a good job as Chairman of the Judiciary Committee.
Please ping your fellow Coloradans. Thanks
As for Stevens, his vote is not needed at this point so I doubt it's that he's holding out. He may be on a trip. Biden evidently voted by proxy as he is out of the country.
It's my prayer that someday this is so. :-)
Did I miss anything?
Judge Alito will become JUSTICE Alito in time for the
SOTU address next week.
Other than that, same old blather from the dems/libs.
Agree.
I started watching the committee debates with the notion that Specter was a RINO.
While possibly true, I dont think anyone could have conducted the hearings better.
My opinion of Specter went up dramatically.
Are they going to vote by Tuesday? If so, excellent news.
Also agreeing here! I was pleasantly surprised at Mr. Spectre throughout this whole business.
Unless the dems have some secret ace up their sleeves, I don't see why not...but I am not an expert in these matters.
I'm listening to RUSH right now, and during the breaks the local news keeps breaking in cantwell will vote "NO" because Alito hasn't shown himself to be sufficiently "Independent". Well, one, we knew how she'd vote. Two, when did Hillary let Cantwell off her puppet strings? Funny one of the least Independent members of the Senate would use that as a talking point. Half of them are beholden to Liberal groups, then there are those like Cantwell not even that Independent since she jumps at Hillary's snap.
Salazar heard from me this morning with regard to his obscene, racist comment that Clarence Thomas is an abomination.
ROTFLMAO! And it's only funny because it is true.
Thanks. Will post on the state board.
Off to compose a scathing e-mail.
Her heinous used the disabled card against Alito yesterday.
The Senate adjourned last night just before 8:00 PM ET. I can only guess it was some kind of compromise. Someone on the other thread suggested they all may have wanted to leave in time for "American Idol".
Now that he knows it will fail, he will come out strongly in favor of it. If there was a chance they could pull it off (actually, WHILE there was a chance), he said nothing about it.
