Debate continues in the Senate today on the nomination of Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court. At present no time has been announced for a final vote. Stop by and discuss.
Frist filed Cloture motion!
CLOTURE!!! WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
LOOK AT HIM CALL OUT KERRY AND THE OTHERS WHO WANT TO FILLIBUSTER.....IF YOUR GONNA DO IT, THEN DO IT
Doesn't this call for the NUKE OPTION???
Vote on cloture at 4:30 on Monday.
Calling for cloture!
Reid is one person who doesn't understand principle. He's all political.
WOW Frist finally grew a pair of Cabungas! Good for Frist!
Fisk is a moron. Could have done this last night.
Reid: adequate time to debate.
Reid says they have had a dignified debate. Hah.
1630 on Monday.
Frist goes first. Mentions that Specter had been on the floor and asked for consent to move to the vote on the nominee. Frist also notes that some of the DEMs have expressed an intention to filibuster. Frist reiterates his intention to give plenty of time for debate on the floor, but that he has been unable to obtain a time-certain for a vote from the DEMs.
Frist roughly describes the past 87 days, including some delays relating to hearings. Frist says debate will continue today, tomorrow, Saturday, if necessary; as much time as is needed before taking the vote.
Frist sends a cloture motion to the desk, based on the news that there are DEMs who intend to filibuster the nomination, i.e., withhold permission to enter a unanimous consent agreement.
4:30 PM Monday vote on cloture. Tuesday vote on the nominee, 11:00 AM. No objection.
Reid says no one can complain about having sufficient time. The debate has been dignified, etc. Reid expresses appreciation for assuring that all Senators have been given ample time to talk.
Back to Frist - Senate will be open for as long as Senators want to speak. Reiterates 4:30 PM Monday cloture vote, and 11:00 AM Tuesday vote on the nominee.
Liz is up--I've always liked her. :-)
I don't trust Reid.....that was too easy......he's up to something on Monday...
Anyone know why Stevens hasen't declared yet...I don't think his constituents (Alaska)would object to a Y vote
