If JimRob, etc. approve this is the Live Thread for the Canadian General Election, on January 23rd, 2005.
We have a while to go before the returns start coming in, but I thought the thread needed to get up and running.
I've already given the results
l 18, c 11, n 3
I had read about his death on the flight, though I never knew that he ran back in (something I wondered and suspected).
He is easily one of my favorites. I always get kinda bummed about that anytime I listen to him, that I'll never get to see him in concert. Saw Garnet last fall and at Folk Fest which were both really good. Hopefully I'll see his (Stan's) son Nathan next time he is in town.
I met a distant relative of his at Folk Fest this summer, with my beard and thinning hair, she said I sort of look like him. I took that as a big compliment, regardless that I can't possibly match his voice or guitar playing! :-)
This blackout law is more putrid than I expected. When the networks start coming in in an hour or so, there's going to be 200-something results thrown at us all at once.
shyt!, l 19, c 10, n 3
Presumably that's St John's and 'burbs.
What tipped over to the dark side?
can't tell...sorry
lib -6%
con +6%
con +3 seats
Is that only for Newfoundland?
+6% vs. what? The 2004 results?
All Atlantic Canada...32 seats of 308
"Damn!!!! The proalberta site is overloaded....."
The whole world is watching?
Just coming back in after a brief nap. Where are we? Has NS come in? Kings-Hants?
I'm keeping my fingers crossed! How close is it getting? The voting system here is still a bit fuzzy to me. If it is a minority govt, how long would it last? (I hope I'm not spoiling too much by asking that)
Precisely!! That's the bottom line.
The liberals are making sure that there is not a chance of Western voting by popularity in the East!
Hmmm...
Well, the Atlantic has been good for the Liberals.
If those numbers hold (a twelve point swing), we're going to end up with a Conservative minority - but a real mess. A strong possibility that the combined Liberal-NDP seat total will exceed the Conservative total.
So, are there any exit polls?
Jeez,
L 20
C 9
